In the video footage of the 1st 10 megaton hydrogen bomb test called IVY-MIKE at detonation the mushroom cloud does not appear for about 30 or 40 seconds after the blast.
exactly after the initial blast and before the mushroom cloud there appears to be a red transparent dome above the blast area.
what causes this tranparent bubble like dome before the explosion that creates the mushroom cloud?

I remember watching a video years ago about someone who had helped to create the atomic bomb (or maybe it was the hydrogen bomb...); he then saw the damaging effects his work had on society and so commited suicide (I think he was in the blasting range of another bomb...maybe he died during the blast at Nagasaki after seeing what had happened to Hiroshima...or maybe this is totally unrelated to the atomic bombs...).

but what if a very small amount of hydrogen is subjected to a strong chemical explosive in extra amount , maybe enclosed in a steel ball for pressure , would the heat and pressure that build up be proportionately large enough that fusion occurs in a little amount of the hydrogen , which would then release energy that causes fusion in the rest ??
