You have two candles. One is blue and 8 inches tall and the other is yellow and 12 inches tall. The blue candle burns ¼ inch every hour and the yellow candle burns ½ inch every hour. If the yellow candle is lighted 6 hours after the blue candle is lighted and both candles burn continuously, which candle will burn out first? After the first candle has burned out, how much longer will the other candle burn? ...

I have a couple questions about omens in candle burning during the casting of spells. I know there are people who don't believe in magic or omens, but for those that do believe or at least have some knowledge of the matters: On a glass encased candle, what does it mean when you end up with lines of wax and herbs left on the glass after the candle has burned out? They aren't in complete rings, but in half or quarter circles. And regarding the sparking of candles, I have heard a couple different theories relating usually to someone or something talking, but would like to know any other possible opinions or knowledge of what it is. The other day I was burning candles for 3 related honey-jar spells, and though I had used the types of candles and dressing before, on that day they ALL began to flicker, pop and fizz like fireworks! They did not do it again the next day, so I was wondering what that was about if anyone can guess. Thank you everyone! It is also of note that I'm not a wiccan; my magic spells are usually rooted in voodoo or hoodoo, which isn't a religion. (There are people who are technically Christians that practice it, though I am sure the bible advises against it.) I also have no interest in being a Christian if people who give obnoxious replies that don't answer my question are the sorts that I'd then be hanging around with. The honey-jar spells are relating to a business matter -- I'm a writer and sent a book to be considered for publication. The spells are on the editors and owners of the company, in the hope that it might increase the odds of the book being accepted if they like me better. The glass candle was part of a general luck spell. The ring appears to be all herbs though logically there's wax in it or else they wouldn't be sticking there. The partial ring occurs about 1/3rd of the way down the glass from the top. ...

20% of Oxygen is available in the atmosphere. To prove this an experiment is performed in schools with a jar and candle. When I lit a candle in an inverted jar over water, the flame went off after few second and the water started raising inside the jar. The raise was less than 10% of jar volume. When I lit 2 candles inside the jar, the volume of water rasised inside the jar was doubled. I keep on increasing the number of candles and found that the water was proportionally raising with number of candles lit. At one stage water has raised more than 50% of the jar. If the atmospheric oxygen is only 20 %, water should not raise in the jar more than 20% of its volume. What may be the reason for the above result? ...

I burned one glass-encased candle(half red and half blk) to get rid of bad habits and one white glass-encased candle for protection and healing.  Why does the lady I buy candles from give me such detailed instructions about candle care and maintenance, like it's a plant or a kitten? She tells me how long to keep it burning and how to trim and even replace the wick. What did I sign up for here? Does this thought really run through anyone's mind, "Gee, this candle has been really great but I'm ready to not have a candle burning anymore and go to bed. OH WAIT I need to let it burn for another 45 minutes, empty the wax, and trim the wick with my wick-trimming shears." To me, it's even worse than worrying about squeezing the toothpaste from the base. Thoughts? ...

Hi there, I would like to re-use some old wax from candles that burnt out and make few new candles out of it, instead of tossing it into the trash. Does anyone know how can I make a candle at home? Can I re-use this old candle wax? What do I need to make a candle? What are the steps? I am a complete beginner in this, so any advice from an experienced candle maker will be appreciated. Thank you. ...

Observe a candle very carefully - use all of your senses and any equipment you can think of to help you observe as many characteristics or properties of the candle as possible. Write down your observations as you are observing it. Then, break off a small piece from the bottom of the candle. Observe the candle again carefully - writing down your observations as before. A. List 4 properties or characteristics which changed when you broke off a piece. Why or how did they change? B. List 4 properties which did not change when you broke off a piece. Why did these properties not change? C. What do we call properties that do not depend on the size of a sample of a substance? ...
