Three strings were standing outside of a bar. On the door the sign said, "NO STRINGS ALLOWED". The first string goes in, orders a beer, and the bartender said, "can't you read? No strings allowed!" So the second string trys, and the bartender repeated, "I just told your friend, NO STRINGS ALLOWED! NOW GET OUT!"
So the third string rubbed his hands through his hair real fast, tied himself into a knot, and goes in and orders a beer.
after bringing the beer the bartender winces one eye and tilts his head. "Hey. Are you a string?"
The string replied, "no, I'm afraid not".

Hi, i just bought an acoustic guitar, and the people at GC threw in a free pair of strings, the only problem is that the strings they put in the bag are A'Addario light 12 string guitar strings. Is there anyway i can use these strings on my 6 string guitar?

I just bought an electric guitar yesterday ( I think it's a 'Epoch' or something from Gibson/Baldwin...). Well, the point is, I was trying to tune it today, but then the E string snapped. So then I replaced it. Then 2 hours later, while tuning my guitar again, another string broke, but it wasn't even tight, only a little bit (actually, it was quite loose). Then one hour later, another string broke. What am I doing wrong? I follow the "5th Fret Tuning Method" and I used an automatic tuner, but the string still snaps. Like sometimes, the automatic tuner indicates that my string pitch is too low, so then I tighten the string, Then all of a sudden it breaks T_T. Are the strings fragile, or am I just doing something wrong?

Three strings, in the horizontal plane, meet in a knot and are pulled with three forces such that the knot is held stationary. The tension in string 1 is T1 = 3.6 N. The angle between strings 1 and 2 is q12 = 130° and the angle between strings 1 and 3 is q13 = 120° with string 3 below string 1 as shown. (THis is the link to the picture relating to the question: )
a) Find the tension in string 2.
b) Find the tension in string 3.
c)If the sizes and directions of T2 and T3 remain the same, but T1 is increased by 3.4 N, what is the acceleration of the mass?
Sorry this is the right link to the picture.

I recently broke the g string on my violin... i don't know much about the strings, but the new string the guy at the music store gave me looked ALOT bigger than my last string..... the D, A, E strings all look like wires (liek the bottom two strings on a guitar)... but this new G looks like the top E on a guitar and it broke actually as well, it like uncoiled.... I keep breaking them becuase my violin won't tune right....
anyways I guess my questions are...
1. is the G string supposed to be so much bigger than the rest and look like coiled wire?
2. why won't this violin tune... its like impossible to even get it in tune for even a second? is the violin broken?
3. the wires are p;pressing into the top of fingerboard of the violin and are cutting into the wood... they are doing the same on the bridge... is this normal?

I just but me a nifty stringer and I love performance strings but I don't have the cash to shell out for really nice 19$ strings. I have been using Gamma ESP strings because someone gave them to me and I love them but I just can't afford to keep using the expensive strings. Any strings that are nice and cheap and have great performance? Durability is not that much of an issue for me if the price is decent. The ESP s last me about a week and a half and usual 16 gauge strings last me normally the same time.
Question is what strings do you prefer that are economical and playable?

i dont know whats the cause of this but this is a problem im having since i started playing electric guitar and it is HORRIBLY frustating!! when im playin in the two lowest string (low e and a), all other strings start ringing, and I dont know why. Sometimes i wonder if its me, maybe the pickups are crap, may be the amp. I just dont know what the hell is going on. By the way, my guitar is a $375 epi les paul, my amp: Marshall MG10CD Combo Amp. Sometimes i put my hand over the fretboard and i start playing notes on the low e string, without having any contact with other strings. Then i stop and all other strings are ringing!!! and trust me, it sounds horrible!!! Also, when im playin usin the rythm pickup, and i switch to the treble pickup, without having my hands touchin the strings, the strings start to ring!!!! Please, i need help, everything i try to play on those strings (basically on every string) sounds like crap (ex: crazy train riff, sounds horrible!!!) please i need ur help!!!!

Three strings, in the horizontal plane, meet in a knot and are pulled with three forces such that the knot is held stationary. The tension in string 1 is T1 = 2.1 N. The angle between strings 1 and 2 is q12 = 130? and the angle between strings 1 and 3 is q13 = 120? with string 3 below string 1 as shown.
a) Find the tension in string 2.
T2 = N
b) Find the tension in string 3.
T3 = N
A mass of 1.1 kg is now placed on the knot and supported by a frictionless table in the plane of the strings. c) Find the acceleration of the mass if all the forces remain the same as above.
|a| = m/s2
d) If the sizes and directions of T2 and T3 remain the same, but T1 is increased by 2.4 N, what is the acceleration of the mass?
|a'| = m/s2

3 strings, in the horizontal plane, meet and are pulled w/3 forces so the knot is held stationary. The tension in string 1 is T1=3.1 N. The angle between strings 1 & 2 is theta12=130 degrees & the andgle between 1 & 3 is theta13=120 degrees with string 3 below string 1.
a)Find the tension in string 2.
b)Find the tension in string 3.
c) If the sixes and directions of T2 and T3 remain the same, but T1 is increased by 2 N w/ a mass of 2kg, what is the acceleration of the mass?

I play with a liquid metal instinct, and my strings are perfect control i think made by head. Well I have not broken my strings yet for over a year. I dont know if my strings are too loose. Well in some instances, when i hit the ball on the outside strings they move and the stings look messy, is that a sign of loose strings? Should I just cut my strings and get new ones?

I want to get new strings for my violin. But what kind should i get. Is there a name of these kind of strings? For example if I play an E on a D string, it'll rattle, and sound awful. And I want to learn how to vibrato, but it's a little hard for me. How can i control my hand to vibrato?
