why do people like the beatles so much?? if you were from dat time frame and love the beatles, fine. but i see middle schoola nd high school kids with beatles shirts and it makes me wanna kick their butts. you werent even alive when the beatles played. why do people wanna support a band dat promotes drug use and "free love"?? thanks to the beatles, there is alot of violence and a booming population thanks to the baby boomers. more pollution, more garbage in this world. and why did the beatles "pave" the music industry?? i dont see people following these "devil lovers" since their music has subliminal messages. im not sayin the beatles "suck" just simply dat they are overated and there are many posers out there dat are tryin to be cool by listening to the beatles and wearing t-shirts one final point: the beatles are dead. paul mcartney and john lennon had their problems with society even though they pretended to be enviromentalist tree huggers "flower power" hippies all dat crap well rap, they talk about doing those things but dont actually DO them. the beatles both talked AND did drugs ...

There is no doubt that the King and the Fab Four were extremely popular and influential musical acts of the 20th century, and remain icons of ?the good old days? to countless fans. Although both the Beatles and Elvis Presley have made their mark on popular culture forever, there tends to be bias towards one or another. I would like to begin by stating that the Beatles were the most popular music group ever! My opinion is shared by thousands of people in the world as well as Rolling Stone magazine, who placed the Beatles #1 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Credited as pioneers in terms of concept albums, music videos, feedback, experimental mixing, and backwards messages, the Beatles are remembered for not only their exceptional musical contributions, but also their wit, charisma, and humor. It has been 37 years since they broke up, yet their CDs and merchandise is selling as much as, if not more than current bands. And the reason for this? Talent. The Beatles were amazing musicians and remain unmatched to this day. Their impact on the world has sustained for decades and will be remembered far into the future. It is amazing to think that a group of four working-class Liverpudians would ever rise to the status that they eventually did, raising musical standards as they went. Then there?s Elvis. The overrated ?King.? I don?t understand what is so great about him. Say what you want, I will always think of him as a fat guy eating hamburgers in a sequined suit. In my opinion, Elvis Presley as a musician is a complete joke- he was famous for the sake of being famous, not because of any skill. The hype associated with Elvis is only because he was a pioneer. Yet compared to his other acts of the time such as Chuck Berry and Little Richard, Elvis falls short of in terms of skill. My problem with Elvis is that he didn?t write his own songs (talk about lazy and uncreative!), he hardly play the guitar, could barely sing, and he couldn?t act! I know that last bit may not be of importance but since he has like 20 boring and forgettable movies, you would think he could at least try. On the other hand, the Beatles wrote the vast majority of their songs which are almost all good. They also span a wide range of musical genres and musical techniques. And, get this. The Beatles could act, and made 5 wonderful unique movies. Elvis Presley wanted the Beatles to be kicked out of the United States because he believed that their anti-war attitude was ?un-American.? Haha, ain?t that a laugh! Here?s this guy who loves the United States yet doesn?t allow opinions to be expressed! If you ask me, the real reason he wanted them out of the country is because they posed a threat to him. I admit Elvis became a legend. Yet I think he was just a performer. Not a musician. Not a songwriter. Definitely overrated. Compared to the Beatles, Elvis was more average than the color gray. ...

I recently recieved these materials and I'm looking to sell them. Everything is in very good shape. The person that owned them wrapped and sealed all of their magazines so they are pretty much the same as they were on the stands. The books, except for the old ones, are virtually brand new. One poster is inside a plastic protector and the other is stil in the plastic wrap as through it were just purchased (one end is opened). CDs are in good shape and everything that came with them is there (I checked this online). The British flag is just nice and brand new as well. The person that owned this was a beginner as far as collecting Beatles stuff so none of the materials are old but they are well kept. Basically, what I want to know is...is it worth my time and energy to post this on ebay? As Beatles collectors, would any of you be interested if you saw this posted?  im almost ashamed to ask this question since i think im quite knowledgeable about music, esp older rock music but ive never been much for the beatles until somewhat recently, and there is a song that i know is the beatles, and has a trumpety part in it. i dont recall any of the lyrics - i havent heard this song in years. i know this probably could be several beatles songs but thats fine, process of elimination will work for me if i have somewhere to start! i almost want to say the tempo switches around... like it starts out sounding one way but then ends up sounding like a different song? it was long ago and i just remember my dad telling me it was the beatles and something to the effect of how you could tell they were on drugs-- which i thought narrowed it down to a specific window of songs but ive yet to find it, its not a rare song - i just havent heard it since becoming a fan haha :) it is Hands Across the Water--- so i was incorrect saying it was the Beatles but i suppose i was at least on the right track? thanks so much everyone! (im new to this... how do i choose the best answer?) thanks again so much thats been driving me nuts for weeks!!! :) ...

I am looking for a Beatles song With Bagpipes. Not a song by the member of the Beatles but the Beatles themselves.I have a friend whose father in law is very ill and wants the song for his memorial service. He believes it to be the Beatles (I think it is Mcartney and Wings but it is his memorial so i'll try :) ) Thanks for helping. ...

I always wondered- had the Beatles insisted on keeping Pete Best in the band, would they still have become superstars? Pete's drumming was no better or worse than Ringo's, but he didn't have Ringo's humor- plus Pete didn't sing.... George Martin didnt seem to like Pete or Ringo's drumming- even after Ringo was brought in, Martin used a session drummer on 'Love me Do'. Would Pete have cost the Beatles stardom had he stayed in the Beatles? I'm assuming there must have been a major personality clash between Best and the other Beatles- as in a recent interview, Best said he hasnt spoken to any of the other Beatles since they sacked him (though he has tried to contact them)- John did borrow some of Pete's mother's (Mona) medals, which John wore on the cover of the Sgt Pepper album, but he never contacted Pete...the only reason why they would totally cut all communication woith him (I assume) must have because Paul, John and George hated Pete with a passion.. Or perhaps they realized the way they sacked him was a bit cowardly, and they couldn't look him in the eye afterwards... ...

It must have been about 1997 when I seen this movie on tv. But I saw this movie that seemed to be spoofing on The Beatles and some girl that wanted to go see them. It was like a comedy movie, not actually with The Beatles in it, but with characters whose faces were always hidden (like that guy on Home Improvement) who were meant to be The Beatles. Does anyone know what the title of this movie is? I've been trying to find out for a really long time and would really like to see it again. The only part that I can really remember about this movie is "The Beatles" always somehow having their faces hidden, and this disgusting pimple popping scene (you know, giant pimple on someones face that *ahem* pops.) If anyone knows the movie that I'm talking about, please let me know. ...

Why do you think the Beatles songs are still so popular today? They split up in 1970 - that's 36 years ago & yet their music/songs still lives on. They burst into the music scene in 1963 (UK) & 1964 (US & rest of the world) & for 7 short years they managed to sell more records than anyone else. There are no new Beatles songs but EMI/Capitol still managed to repackage their songs (Let it Be - Naked is the latest example). If you look at their songs, the lyrics are simple by today's standards. Fans who had attended Beatles concerts are now at least in their 50s & they don't form the majority of people who purchased/download their songs. And yet it is mystery that their songs/albums still tops the charts (No. 1s did exceedingly well worldwide). Recently there was a survey done by one of those teen magazines asking their readers who the beatles are & (surprise!) 78% of the respondents not only knows who they are but can sing or hum their most popular songs too. ...

So, we all know that The Beatles are bigger than Jesus Christ. And I'm very happy with that, as I adore John Lennon. But... what about other religious figures? Are The Beatles bigger than, say, Buddha (figuratively speaking, of course)? So, please answer the following with who's bigger: The Beatles, or ____ (religious symbol/god/prophet/etc...). Are that Beatles bigger than... Buddha? Krishna? Muhammad? Vishnu? Osiris (antiquated)? Zeus (antiquated)? Ah Puch (antiquated)? Moses? Joseph Smith? God/Allah? Feel free to explain your reasoning, or not. Thank you! Kristine: Zarathustra is a prophet whose ideas are the foundation of Zoroastrianism. But yeah, I agree, The Beatles are way bigger. Recommend Anyone: The Judeo-Christian/Islamic God/Allah is the Creator for several religions, including Christianity and Islam. So I think He would be bigger than Jesus Christ. So I guess the questions is if The Beatles are bigger than God (capital "G"). eldoradodave: Lennon wasn't misquoted... he actually *did* say they're bigger than Jesus. His remark was just misinterpreted. There's a difference between "bigger than" and "better/more important than" (though I'm sure some would argue that The Beatles are better than Jesus, and I have no problem with that. I think both are pretty chill). ...

Was listening to some Beatles music the other day and noticed the following. With a Little Help from My Friends around the 39 second mark. Got to love that little drum interlude. Was it all Ringo or pure genius by Lennon/McCartney for putting that in? Hey Jude Version performed by the Beatles: performed by McCartney and a whole bunch of other artists like Elton John, Sting, and Eric Clapton (go Clapton): had stories about how when the Beatles were originally writing and rehearsing this song that McCartney was trying to be a super perfectionist and got on the other people's nerves. Still an awesome song which I think is the Beatles song. Speaking of which the McCartney/U2 collaboration on Sgt Peppers was awesome: what you can find on YouTube. ...

Does anyone else see this. Upon reading through rolling stone magazine's topp 500 songs of all time, there must have been at least 10 beatles songs in the top 50. now, i appreciate the brilliance of the beatles, but is there a tendency to include beatles songs based wholly on reputation. For example, the is no way beatles pop songs like i want to hold your hand and help! should be ranked among the best songs of all time. Lennon and McCartney produced some great hits, but they also produced some dead set rubbish. What are other people's thoughts on this? There were more than 10 songs on the list, i just counted about 10 in the top 50. Also, don't be mislead by this, i understand the influence the beatles had and also their brilliance as musicians, but songs that are not brilliant should not rank near the top of such a list. Bob dylan, neil young, bruce springsteen, paul simon, leonard cohen even were greater songwriters, but they don't have anywhere near the coverage in this list. It's the same with the best albums list. Once again i will state that i agree they were instrumental. But there have been many bands that were instrumental over the years that don't have such a huge representation in the list. It is like rolling stone were trying to get all the beatles songs in first to show how much they knew. Please stop saying that the beatles influence and brilliance is lost on the present generation. It is not. i am not saying no beatles song should be on the list, nor that all the songs that were in the top 50 should appear on the list somewhere. But these are NOT the influential songs. And, in terms of the evolution of music, so many more musicians were influence by dylan and young, or by early blues artists, than by the beatles. A song that establishes a band as popular is not neccissarily a great song. It is the songs that come after that fall into this category. Stop telling me i don't appreciate, or can't appreciate the beatles. But feelfree to tell me that these teenage pop songs are better songs than "helpless" by neil young, or simon and garfunkels "bridge over troubled water". i appreciate music from the 60's a lot more than i appreciate todays music. ...
