Bobo was walking down the street one day, minding his own business, when a woman with a goat came running up to him. She had to go out of town on a business trip, and offered to pay Bobo $500 to take care of her pet goat for the rest of the week.
Bobo felt sorry for the woman and since he didn't have anything to do that week, he agreed to care for the goat. He took it home with him and tied him to the corner of a 15 X 20 foot barn, which was surrounded by a very expensive ground cover. Bobo gave the goat a 20-foot tether from the corner of the barn. Unfortunately, he didn't realize that the goat was very hungry. When he returned to check on the goat a few hours later, he found that the goat had eaten all of the ground cover within his area. The ground was completely bare. Bobo was mad with it and even more mad at himself. He knew that it would cost 95 cents per square foot to replace the ground cover. Did Bobo have any money left from his $500 after replacing the ground cover?

I understand why the Irish Wolfhound can be a symbolic inspiration as a mascot to the Irish Guards - in that the Irish wolfhound is first and foremost a large hunting dog - ideal mascot for a Brigade of Infantry soldiers - which, contrary to popular belief the Irish Guards actually are. Ceremonial duties come second !
However, what symbolic reason, or inspiration does the goat provide for the Welsh Regiments?.... can't be just as a means of food - cheese... milk.... meat... - in times of desperation can it?
I know that the goat, like the likes of Cormac and Connor (who I knew, and accompanied on the daily exercise on occassions) have ranks, and can, indeed HAVE been demoted, as well as promoted.
I just wonder about the symbolic use of the goat for Welsh Regiments... after all, the leek is worn by males on St Davids Day (March 1st) and the daffodil for the ladies. I know that Lava Bread is the Welsh National dish - seaweed to you and me... but the GOAT..?
Re Mr Mojo Risin - thanks for link but I think this symobolism indicative of the downsizing of Welsh Regiments over the years - QUOTE -
"A cull like this could hasten the extinction of an ancient breed. The old Welsh goat is not even protected because it was technically domesticated 10,000 years ago by nomadic pastoralists. It's crazy that in London foxes are protected, but the wild Welsh goat is not. They do not have a home anywhere. They exist only on the goodwill of landowners. Anyone can go out and kill them."
"We're not sure why feral goats are coming off the hills," said Rod Gritten, an ecologist with Snowdonia national park. "They are a lot bolder with people than they used to be. In the past you would never see them. Now they are becoming cheeky ... they just hop over fences. I suppose we could put up goat-proof fences but that would cost millions." UNQUOTE :-(

So far nealljking seems to be the closest but his proof is way too complicated for me to follow. Just for clarification, this is not a trick question and the goat and the field are just convenient examples.
The circular field with the 100 ft diameter is part of a much bigger field, but it doesn't matter how much grass he can eat outside of the 100 ft diameter field. and it doesnt matter whether the goat turns backwards or sideways or stretchhes his tether. Lets just assume that he eats ALL the grass he can reach within the 100 foot diameter field.
Obviously his tether has to be more than 50 ft long, but exactly how long is the question.
This question was posed in my college freshman math class 40 years ago and no one got it right and the math proff. refused to divulge the formula or the answer. ???

Did the goat enjoy the sex? Or was he oblivious to the very small size of Mohammed's penis? Was Mohammed nice to the goat?
Did they snuggle afterwards?

the snake? Or would the goat do something different that I haven't thought of as a reaction to seeing a snake. I am just curious. I like goats and think there are few things as cute as a goat. Or maybe a goats reaction to seeing a snake depends on the personality of the particular goat? Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

A cousin told us that pregnant women are not suppossed to eat goat cheese during pregnancy. I ate it probaly once a month with my last pregnancy and she was stillborn at 22 weeks due to umbilical accident. Also a greek resturant uses goat cheese on there bread sticks where i have ate before pregnancy. Should I avoid eating goat cheese the second time around. I ate it with the chips and on top of some food which was melted.

A goat is tethered with a 30-m rope to a fixed point on a silo with a 20-m radius. What is the area around the silo on which the goat can eat grass?

Thanks, thegame112101, but don't forget the rope wraps around the silo's perimeter as it gets closer.
Not quite but you're getting warm, Inday. I'm impressed.

I asked because I saw this painting where a GOAT was playing the fiddler and it seem like a happy setting. (Marc Chagall's La Mariee) You can see it here:

Goats are good for many things. You can milk them, eat them, and they make good transportation to pull wagon. They are also smarter than a pig. You can train a goat to stand on the roof of a car.

Borg, Vilas?Courier? Muster? Bruguera? Kuerten? Nadal? Sampras?! Someone else?
I wouldn't classify many players from the 80s as clay courters, all the FO champions were good on fast courts too. The 70s is before my time, but if anyone has any suggestions...
My favourite was Muster but I think the GOAT is already (imminently) Nadal.
GOAT = Greatest Of All Time
I only put Sampras in as a joke, just to see if any unwitting Sampras fanboys, oblivious to his poor form on clay, suggested him.
Lendl's probably my favourite player of all time but I think of him as predominantly a hard court player (8 consecutive USO finals). Borg may be the GOAT at the moment but look at Nadal - already has the consecutive wins record, 3 consecutive FO & Rome Masters on first attempts, 3 consecutive Monte Carlo Masters.
Part of the reason I admire Muster is because he reached the no. 1 spot by virtually winning only clay tournaments. If Nadal gets the no.1 whilst Federer holds 3 GS' it'll be pretty stupid - I think Nadal is going down the route of a lot of clay-courters, and he'll burn out by his mid-twenties. As for Borg - exceptional player but he overdid himself.

Many stories exist of a half man half goat beast wandering several areas outside of Bowie Maryland in central Prince Georges County... has anyone else ever seen or heard about him ??? Any ideas on how this story came to be??? I am researching this in depth in order to determine if it would be worth writing a book about... I have a few clues as to his current haunts (roads and areas)... any clues or information you have would be appreciated !

I've been reading The Feast of the Goat[Mario Vargas Llosa] for my history class and, it is a novel that outlines Trujillo's last days as dictator of the Dominican Republic. The fictional story through its plot intertwines actual historical themes and provides insight as to the regime of Trujillo.
In brief, I know that he was able to maintain power by spreading fear to those closest to him(and over those he ruled) and by properly choosing his confidants. I also know that a reason why he died was because of US involvement. I have several questions that I hope can be answered if somebody can please provide further insight.
- How was Trujillo able to maintain power and keep his country subservient despite the abuses of power that made other Caribbean dictators the target of leftist revolutionaries?
-What events finally lead to the downfall of the Trujillo regime?
-How are the events in the Domin Repub. similar to or different from other revolutions in Latin America?
Thanks alot!
