 I have an indian passport. I know that if i fly to hong kong from any location, I will be given a 14 day Hong kong visa at the HK airport (so i do not need to apply before). Right now I am in guangzhou, china with a valid chinese visa. I will be taking a TRAIN to hong kong from guangzhou and stay in hong kong for 3 DAYS. Do I need a hong kong visa stamped on my passport, given that i am travelling by train and from mainland BEFORE boarding the train in guangzhou OR will I be given a visa at HK train station just like in case of HK airport?  Still writng my book on Asian backpacking in the late 70's. The journals I kept all survive except for the Hong Kong and Thailand portions. (Stolen luggage) I have enough memory to write the book but place names and circumstances I wish to be accurate on are lost. I remember a hydrofoil trip FROM Hong Kong to Kowloon a few days into our stay at the Youth Hostel, headed for the New Territories, but I don't recall how we got from the airport to Hong Kong upon arrival. I know it was quick (20 minutes or less). The Hostel was crammed with backpackers that slept anywhere they could for $5 US a night. We stayed 4 days, actually walking up to the barely guarded fence with Communist China. The fence was torn and I stepped through for a moment, "just to say I'd done it". Half an hour later on the "other" side of the fence came a toothless old man in a peasant shirt and a hundred year old Russian rifle with three bullets.
