 LTTE is an organisation banned by US, Canada & EU as a terrorist organisation, which is fighting for a seperate homeland for the tamil minority (less than 30%) in sri lanka. They use suicide bombing, massacre of sinhalese and muslims in addition to attacking the government officers and armed forces.  What is so important to kill each other for a land. I have notice that the sri lankan Sinhales speek a totally different language and the culture is very different. And the tamils are easy to make out that they are from India , Tamil Nadu plus the culture and the language are same.I think the tamil Nadu government is helping the tigers to get hold of sri lanka.
