 We are having some serious problems with the deer. They can't seem to stay very far away from our home. The neighbors and people in surrounding areas have had the same problem. During the last deer hunting season we have had to call the sheriffs department and the DNR to report people who where shooting at the deer but towards our house. The problem for the hunters is: The deer will not go away from the houses. A conservation officer has informed me that several cougars have been spotted in neighboring counties. Could this be why the Deer seem to want to stay within 100 yards of a house? It seems to happen more at night. I guess in a way its good sense more and more illegal hunting has been exposed. I lived here all my life and this is the first time I have ever seen anything like this! And alot of deer have been killed from being hit by cars. According to the DNR the deer population has not increased! Cougars have not been in central Indiana for nearly 200 years! The problem is: The Deer have torn up some of the trees we planted and they tend to tear up the yard and garden during the summer. They also tend to jump out in front of you as you drive. I don't like killing animals! Nor would I! We have tried repellants but it only works for a very short period of time. I don't hunt deer!!!! I guess what I'm really asking is what is causing the deer to behave this way? ...

 I havested a couple of deer. I normally process the deer right after returning home from the hunt. I do not have the time to do it, so I put the two deer into this old working freezer I have. The deer have been field dressed of course. I was wondering about the two deer being in the freezer is this a good thing. I know you can hang deer outside for a couple of days if temps stay low enough, but I have never heard of someone putting a whole unskinned deer in the freezer for couple of days. Anyone have any answers of this? ...

 Daughter just came home from work. It's 10:04 here..... dark outside. She told me she hit a deer. But when the story all came out, it would seem the deer hit her. She saw a deer on the right side of the road and was watching it so she wouldn't hit it, but apparently there was another deer and it jumped at her car as she passed by, denting the side of her front fender. From a legal standpoint, is she at fault? She said the deer limped off into the woods and she thinks it was a young deer and it just hit its shoulder. She feels horrible! But I think it was just a freak accident and not her fault. The dent isn't all that bad, so I don't think the deer was hurt very badly. She lost sight of it quicky because of the darkness and the trees. What can I tell her to help her feel better? Sue ...

 When i was working in the Zoo as accountant, A 2 months old deer has brought and it was grown almost for 3 yrs alone. Then suddenly management brought another 20 deers from Jungle and decided they had enough deers and clear this 3 yrs old deer. So they decided to present as lunch for Tigers. When they left the deer alone in tigers field, As soon as it sees the Tigers it starts running and it realized it will die and eventually it did. How this deer realized that tigers are going to kill, when it was stayed alone almost in a cage for 3 yrs???? Who tought this to deer?? ...
