  I was loaded with cold, on a nightshift with two of my bosses and therefore, very nervous. I had a delivery of a skirt pack from one of my catalogues. A couple of Christmas presents also arrived, one for my nephew's then girlfriend and one for my brother. I phoned my niece to wish her a happy 22nd birthday ... she assumed I wanted to talk to her mother (my sister) and handed me straight to her but I got her back and gave her a telling off for not thinking I would want to wish her a happy birthday. I talked to her then boyfriend and we chatted about the Titanic. I was also making a tape to send to Canada to my penpal .... I remember it included the Lovely national anthem and Eurovision Song Contest entry ..... Not Britain's anthem and entry .... Lovely's. The tape broke and I had to buy some more. ...

  It is great to wake up to his witty tales on Radio 2, and Eurovision is only watchable because he take the piss out of the whole thing. And he has an unlikely golf world record, having sunk the longest televised putt in history. The manager of The Commitments had imaginary interviews with him.
