Owen James Hart died 8 years ago today. He was a member of the Harts, one of the most important wrestling dynasties. His father Stu was a wrestler, trainer, promoter... and Owen proudly followed in the footsteps of his father, like all of his 7 brothers did. He loved this sport, and he loved his family. He had a wife, Martha, and 2 kids, Oje and Athena, who were 3 and 7 years old when he died(). Because of them, he wanted to end his career in 2000, so he could spend more time with them.
Owen's death changed my life. It made a devout christian, because it was the trigger for me to think about life after death. It also made me a better fan. Before Owen's death, I just loved and protected everything about wrestling, I guess you can call it "blind love". Today, I see the good and the bad things of my sport. I still love it, but after Owen's death, I started to distance myself from Vince McMahon and WWE, and today,
I have completely turned away from it. But this is not the topic here.
Owen's death was so senseless, and I guess this is why so many wrestling fans all over the world were shocked by it. I know I am not the only fan who cried when he died, and I know that some people will never understand why wrestling fans cry if a wrestler dies. But this will not stop me or any other true fan to remember our heroes.
Martha, his widow, wrote a book, "Broken Harts", in which she tells a lot about Owen's life... and his death. The group Planetfish wrote a tribute song for him: will always remember Owen as a wonderful wrestler, I loved him in his Hart Foundation time. I still see Jeff Jarrett cry at the Tribute Raw... and today, 8 years later, his wife died the same date Owen did. I am so sorry for him, and I want to offer him my sincere condolences.
A 10 bell salute for Owen James Hart! RIP, Owen, you are not forgotten.

MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to make a sensational summer move for Michael Owen.
Sir Alex Ferguson has focused his search for a striker on Newcastle's 27-year-old England star, who has a £12million release clause in his contract.
Owen has been out with a serious knee injury since last summer's World Cup finals but scored in a friendly game against Gretna last week.
Pleading
He has been pleading with Toon boss Glenn Roeder for a chance in the first-team and could make his comeback against Chelsea next week.
Ferguson will only launch a bid if he is fully satisfied Owen has recovered from the knee operation.
A well-placed United source told us: "It is no secret that Sir Alex wants another striker and he is bound to be attracted by someone of Owen's pedigree at such a competitive price. Naturally we would have to be certain he has recovered from his injury and that is why his return will be closely monitored.
"Ideally we want to see him in action for several games between now and the end of the season."
United's interest is certain to appeal to Owen, even though he still feels a debt to Newcastle after they paid £16m to sign him from Real Madrid nearly two years ago.
Owen still has his main home in the north-west, near Chester, even though he has a property in the north-east.
He is itching to get back into Premiership action and has also earmarked England's Euro Championship qualifier against Estonia in June for his international return.

I recently saw an episode of CSI Miami that ended with the words In Memory of Owen Wolf and a year of birth and a year of death. Who was Owen Wolf?

Who's side are you on? Was Steely Dan right to chew out actor Owen Wilson (through his brother Luke) for his role in You, Me, and Dupree, and ask for him to apologize to their fans? Or is Owen not responsible for copyright issues resulting from the similarities between the song and movie? Here's a link to the letter if you haven't seen it....

If you put a wig, a pair of high hills and some make-up on Owen Wilson... You get... Paris Hilton.
If Paris Hilton took off her make-up and wig and talked through her nose....You get...Yes it is Owen Wilson.

A friend and I had a little disagreement about Stone Cold Steve Austin's original neck injury. I said that Owen Hart gave it to him, my friend said it was The Undertaker or Bret Hart. Am I right in saying it was Owen Hart or is my friend right, by saying it was The Undertaker or Bret Hart? I'm referring to the original neck injury, that basically ended his wrestling career.

Michel Owen has not been the same since his return from.
A reflection of his form is the fact that a very average striker like Crouch has overshadowed Owen.
...
I think this would be really cool...
Besides myself, who else feels that it would be time for WWE to do a double DVD feature on Owen, comprising all his most memorable matches, interviews, angles and skits? I feel this would be a great way to commemorate one of the genuinely nicest and most selfless guys both inside and outside the business.
If you were to create such a compilation, what matches, angles, interviews and skits would you put into it?
Canner:-
Owen Hart was a pro wrestler for about 13 years. He had matches in England in about 1988.
But I get what you're saying. There's every chance he would still be wrestling today (or at least involved in the business in some way) if he didn't die.
And also, your point about not bothering because of Bret holds no water whatsoever. True, Owen was nearly always in the shadow of Bret, but then again, Bret was the older of the two, and one of the best WWF wrestlers ever. And Ultimate Warrior had a DVD made about him (even though he bombed as the WWF World Champion), and you could count all the exciting matches Warrior ever had on one hand. So if WWE made a DVD bio for Jim Hellwig, why not Owen?
