 I'm reading a book by ad reinhardt but I can't seem to understand how his black paintings were "the last paintings"... For instance, he used a pattern like a tic tac toe to organize his black squares and I am curious why organizing them into 2 layers of 2 squares isn't the last painting...Or just a black painting or a blank canvas with no paint on it...I just don't get it...Does anybody get it? ...

The stone has cuniform or Egyption glyphs of some sort all over its surface. There is a dispute about the type of writing.
