 I am deeply offended by this Tide To Go commercial with Kelly Ripa. I am offended because this is a direct slap to everything I beleive in. I shall not disclose my race, but I am not black. However, I can clearly see racism in this commercial. The commercial I am talking about it the one with Kelly Ripa driving through a drive-thru at a fast food restaurant. She is greeted by an African American woman who works at the fast food establishment. Kelly Ripa notices that the African American woman's uniform blouse is stained (ketchup? Juice? Who knows). She hands the woman her "Tide To Go" pen and instructs her to use it on the stained blouse. Harmless? Well the African American woman says "Thank you, have a nice day." while sneakily hiding the pen from Kelly Ripa. Kelly tells the woman "I want my pen back.". This commercial suggests that African Americans are thieves. This is so not true. They are implying that African Americans are dishonest and manipulative. I am outraged. The subliminal message of this commercial is that African Americans are petty crooks that steal things. It also suggests that they do not earn their possessions and require secondhand good handed down by rich White people. How can this commercial be aired? In this supposedly "Enlightened Era", I am shocked beyond belief. I don't know what to feel. This is beyond shock. We've got a LONG way to go. A further inquiry to the original question: How can Kelly Ripa allow this? Does she not have a brain? Shouldn't she be able to detect the blatant racism in her Tide To Go commercials and refuse to endorse this product for such a racist company? ...

 I know everyone is talking about this, so I wanted to hop on the bandwagon, and here I go... I understand both sides of the issue. If Kelly Ripa had just said "i don't know where that hands been honey" and left it at that, I wouldn't feel it was homophobic, but the way she said it, and then looked up at the audience like it was some big slam, made it seem that way...to me at least. And I'm probably wrong. But, I watched clips of the show on Youtube, and Clay was treating Kelly like shit the whole episode, PLUS he puts his hand over her mouth...I think he deserved it, and more. He's an idiot. And he kept saying stuff like "You like them more than me?"...he's an insecure, moronic has-been, and he needs to stop doing stuff like putting his hand over people's mouth to get attention.
