So i have two dogs here at home rite now...and am considering adopting a cat...but i'm worried that the dogs will feel weird with a new animal in the house..what do you guys think...o...and another thing..if i do adopt a cat i know they are pretty much are self taught to go in the litter box...but say i want to let him out into the yard...i don't have a fenced in yard...will the cat be likely to come back home on his own too? ...

Why is it that whenever cats/dogs see people eating they just sit in front of them and stare at them? I know they're expecting to be fed, but I don't understand how they are able to tell that people are eating. I know it seems a stupid question, but I'm expecting serious answers. I mean to what extent do animals understand human behaviour? Yeah, Suzy, its obvious for US, but how do THEY know? How do they understand? Thats what Im asking. ...

Here's my dilemma. My man has two dogs, a Rotweiler & a Shitzu. I have two cats, both female, both strictly domestic, both have been spayed. In the near future we plan to live together. Now the problem is, can we get the cats & dogs to live together as one big happy family? How do you introduce animals that are obviously supposed to be "enemies" to each other, into a new household? Is this at all possible? Any Vets out there with a real answer? ...

I mean, if you're not a breeder than you have absolutly no good reason for not fixing your pet! there wouldn't be so many unwanted cats/dogs in this country if people just spayed/neutered their animals. people are sooooooo uneducated and ignortant these days about this topic!!! in my own opinion, if you refuse to have your cats/dogs spayed/neutered then you don't deserve to own them!! when I adopted my 5 month old kitten from my SPCA it was soooooooo heartbreaking to see all those cats/kits/pups/dogs living there. people don't realize or care to realize how huge this problem really is. my 2 year old female cat was spayed before her first heat and my 5 month old kitten was neutered before I adopted him. plus, I have a 10 year old beagle who was neutered when he was a puppy. I did my part as a RESPONSIBLE pet owner now others need to do the same if they haven't already!! I know that the overpopulation of us is sky rocketing to, but to me that's a completly different issue. who agrees with me on this very imprtant issue about our pets? spaying/neutering isn't that expensive if you take your pet to your local SPCA!! it will only cost like $20 then!!! I would NEVER buy from a breeder!!! mixed breed cats and dogs are the GREATEST!!! either I decide to adopt my pets from the SPCA or shelter or they just come to me as strays!! (my 10 year old beagle came from a breeder though. my parents bought him for me.) but don't worry they're regret it. =^-^= Leylu: you're dead wrong lady!!!! female cats DO NOT have to have to have a litter before they are spayed!!! I have a two year old female cat and she was spayed before her first heat cycle. she's a wonderful cat too and she never had a litter. in my opininion YOU SHOULD DO YOUR RESEARCH before you bash people like me who actually care about their pets well being!!!!! oh, and I may have yelled but the reason I did was because I'm soooooooo sick of people like that individual who let their pets have litters just for the hell of it!!! it's VERY hard for me to be nice to people like her who know what the best thing to do is!!! maybe I'm mean, but only for a certain reason!! did I call her any names? no, I didn't! ...

1.One of my dogs is trying to eat my hamster. Yesterday he almost bit her what do I do to get the dog to stop trying to eat her? 2.I've got two hyper boxer dogs that I have to look after but they are super hyper. how do I calm them down? 3. Just your opinion but the cat wont eat the hamster. is that weird because the first time they met the hamster put its paw on the cats nose and the cat didn't move. ...

I've read some of these lame damn questions and answers on the site about why people want to breed their pets and here's (some) of their answers to why: just because I can, I want my female to go through the birthing process because she will be nicer, I want to share her, I want kits/pups from her, and she's "special". that is sooooooo stupid. people are just down right ignorant in my opinion. they're NOT breeders. there are millions and millions of cats/dogs put down each year because there is just no home for them. these people are just increasing the huge problem! they're not helping our societys shelters and SPCA's at all! they're just too feakin LAZY to get their animals spayed/neutered. I for one say to everybody: SPAY/NEUTER YOUR CAT/DOG!!!!!!!!!! what do you think? anyone agree with me? I have a dog and two cats. all three are either spayed/neutered. tasha: sorry, but it CAN be helped!! spaying her CAN help!!! even if you can't afford it you can go to your local SPCA and they'll almost spay her for nothing for you. you'll only have to pay about $20! so YOU'RE WRONG, it CAN be helped under every circumstance!!! ...

What are those cone collar things that cats & dogs wear to keep themselves from biting themselve ect when they get hurt??? My cat has a small bite from another cat on his tail & I want to clean it up & he keeps attempting to bite me, so I just want to get one of those but I have no clue what they are called. Any info would help :) Thanks & have a nice day. ...

This debate has been going on amongst my family and friends for a while now. It is my understanding cats and dogs do not have sweat glands all over surface of their skin like humans do which is why they don't perspire in summer like we do. They sweat by panting since their sweat glands are primarily located on/near their tongue (I think cats also have sweat glands on the pads of their feet, but I'm not sure about that). So is there any point to leave a fan running when all the humans have left the house (other than running up my electric bill)? When I've left the fans on all day while I'm away at work, the cats aren't laying in front of them when I come home anyway. Besides, I don't think the house stays any cooler if I leave the fans on all day than if I leave them off. I'm not talking about A/C. I'm just talking about a fan. Also, a fan alone does not lower temperature. However, our perception that the temperature has been lowered is due to the same wind chill effect that we experience in winter. Try it out sometime with if you ever have time in the summer with two rooms of the same size with doors you can close (like similarly sized bedrooms). Run a fan in one and don't run a fan in the other with the windows closed in both. Leave a thermometer in both rooms. The temperature will be same. ...

I need a scientific / veterinarian answer, preferrably. Is the jerking in animals, seen when they stretch or scratch, considered a myoclonic tremor? Is there a medical condition in humans that would be similar to this involuntary jerking in animals (and NOT be epilepsy)? Which medical conditions might look the same as this jerking in pets, or have the same causes (other than epilepsy)? And as a curiosity: Do other animals besides cats and dogs experience this same jerking? ...

dogs are my first choice monkeys are my second choice and cats are my third choice ...

My friend has a theory why cats and dogs are special to humans. What do you think? She says cats and dogs hv the reincarnated souls of children that had died in infancy. This is why we love & treat them as little people. How 'bout mean cats and dogs? She believes they carry the souls of children that had died because of abuse, and this is why some pets are mean and dangerous. ...

I was wondering if anyone has tasted or cooked a dog or a cat or any other house animals? SInce there is a hunger crisis worldwide and there's TONS of cats and dogs running around rampant and in dog pounds. Shouldn't we send these critters to feed the less fortunate? Instead of euthinizing them? ...

Are dogs smarter than cats because they can be taught tricks or are they dumber because they allow people to tell them what to do? Are cats dumber than dogs because they are harder to teach tricks or are they smarter because they don't allow people to tell them what to do? My guess is it's all in how you look at it. ...

What is a Cat? 1. Cats do what they want. 2. They rarely listen to you. 3. They're totally unpredictable. 4. When you want to play, they want to be alone. 5. When you want to be alone, they want to play. 6. They expect you to cater to their every whim. 7. They're moody. 8. They leave hair everywhere. Hence.... They're tiny women in little fur coats. What is a Dog? 1. Dogs spend all day sprawled on the most comfortable piece of furniture in the house. 2. They can hear a package of food opening half a block away, but don't hear you when you're in the same room. 3. They can look dumb and lovable all at the same time. 4. They growl when they are not happy. 5. When you want to play, they want to play. 6. When you want to be alone, they want to play. 7. They leave their toys everywhere. 8. They do disgusting things with their mouths and then try to give you a k*ss. 9. They go right for your cr*tch as soon as they meet you. Therefore... They're tiny men in little fur coats. ...
