I am planning a visit to calgary and also banff to ski at end of march. I also planning to rent a car to drive from calgary to banff. I never been to canada before either. Would it be easy driving for the visitor from calgary to banff, wouldn't I get lost? I also want to visit icefield parkway where I can drive along lake Louis, how can I do that? Wouldn't be dangerous to drive during winter time? Thank you for the info and answers!! ...

My relatives might come over for christmas break from december 20 to january 5th from calgary ab canada and we live in phoenix arizona usa. Since they are 5 people and tickets would cost them over $2000 for all, i can book them a flight within usa using my southwest airlines miles, but they have to cross the border and come to spokane Washington which is 450 miles from calgary, since southwest airlines only flies from there and it is closest to them. We figure cost to be around $300. Is it possible to drive in decmeber, january in that area, coming from calgary ab, crossing the border at Idaho, then 2 hours drive west to spokane? what are the road conditions(i know snow will be there, but is it usually clear or not)? The whole trip will take them 450 miles or around 8 hours or so. And lastly, does a train or bus travel between calgary and spokane? ...

I have read several comments on this site that state Calgarians are known for being intolerant of different races. I have lived here all my life, and I find that quite shocking. Is this true? If so, what do you think is the cause of it? I have seen a great deal of respect in Calgary towards those from other cultures. I am bothered by the fact that Calgary is viewed as being hostile. ...

Hi ... I am living in Winnipeg, and thinking of moving back to Alberta, probably Calgary. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on a comparison of the two cities. I have lived in Calgary but it's been a couple of years, and I know things have changed a lot in the last few years. Thanks. ...

What about cities outside of Calgary? What are they like? Is Calgary hard to get around by car? How much are cigarettes out there right now? Where are some areas to stay away from when looking up apartments? Is it true alot of jobs pay $13 and hour and up? Is the cost of living high? Thanks :D:D ...

I was as upset as anyone while it was happening, but was it really that bad? Yeah, Calgary did take some cheap shots out there, but I think it looked a lot worse than it really was. The three biggest parts that people are complaining about was the McLennan slash, the Iginla "butt-end", and the Langkow uppercut. In all of those plays, Calgary was obviously trying to hurt their opponent, but there wasnt really any intent to injure. Noodles intentionaly got Franzen in the mid section, and there was no way he hit him hard enough to break anything. There also wasnt a good chance that Iginla was going to do any damage with that hit, and Langkows punch was just that, a punch in the face. That happens every game. I think the reason this stuff is being talked about so much is that it was all so obvious and it didnt look like Clagary was even trying to hide what they were doing. Dont get me wrong, Im not saying what Calgary did wasnt messed up, but we've all seen a lot worse. First of all, there is a differance between trying to hurt someone and trying to injure someone. If my buddy steals a beer from me and I punch him in the arm, Im trying to hurt him. If I grab his arm and twist it until it pops, then Im trying to injure him. You can inflict pain on someone yet not do any real damage to the body, thats the differance. Now Im not making excuses for what McLennan did, he screwed up and he should be punished. The thing is though, goalies slash people every game. The differance here is that he did it so long after the whistle and made it extremely obvious. Franzen even admited that it didnt really hurt, it just surprised him. Now, if he was trying to injure Franzen, why would he go for the mid section? Why not the face? Why not hook his legs out from under? He already made it obvious, so why not get a better swing behind the stick? Because he wasnt trying to injure, just inflict pain to get people to stop charging the net. ...

I am planning to travel to Calgary, Canada. I would like to know more about calgary before travelling, and it is the first time for me to travel abroad. I have a friend there to stay. But i want other people opinion too about calgary like: Is there any discrimination there?like social or racial? When is the best time to go there? I really would like to know all about in Calgary, I think this city is very great. Thank you in advance. ...
