I know strabismus is when one eye is in a different direction to the other eye but my left eye only does that when I make it and when I do, my left eye turns inwards and my right eye stays straight and I see 2 of the one object. Is this strabismus? or related to strabismus? ...

I'm 17. I had my strabismus corrected when I was 6 years old, and I wore glasses up until the age of twelve. Now I'm starting to get slightly blurry vision, and sometimes headaches (although those were predominantly due to a misaligned neck). I'm just wondering if this is due to my strabismus and vision problems. Do you think I should get contacts? Or do you think this is due to a more serious issue? I'm going to see my opthamologist at the end of the week. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks! ...

I have Strabismus, had 5 surgeries that fixed it enough to where it's not "so" obvious, but because it wasn't corrected in time, I am forced to "choose" which eye I want to look out of. I don't have the ability to look out of both eyes at the same time, I have to choose one. So is this why I can never see the 3-D imagine on those "Magic Eye" pictures? Do you have to use 2 eyes together to see the imagine? Also, I am unable to see 3D images in movies (ie: Jaws) with those plastic glasse- I can only choose if I want to watch the movie with a red tint or a blue tint! Also, I am 28... Can I train my brain to use both eyes at the same time? It seems so impossible. Thanks for any advice!! ...

why do people tease me about my eyes not being straight. i know that it makes me look retarded but i can't understand why seeing as it could have easily been them with this problem. ...

I had strabismus since I was 5 years old, and wore glasses for 13 years to cosmetically improve my appearance. I recently had it corrected with surgery. The problem I am seeing now is that my eye tends to deviate OUTWARD slightly when I have my glasses on...because they are still trying to compensate for my strabismus that is no longer present. (I had esotropia.) My eyes are perfectly straight without my glasses, but I still need glasses for my vision. My question is, can my opthamologist change my prescription so my glasses no longer overcompensate and my eyes are straight WITH my glasses? ...

I'm having blepharoplasty soon. One week after that, I'll also have strabismus surgery at a different hospital. Both doctors say there's no problem. But besides the side effects and possible failures, I'm afraid that my modified eyelid might be messed up during the strabismus surgery because the doctor has to lift the eyelid very forcefully to find the eye muscles. Would it be really ok? I would appreciate fast and accurate answers because I'm having the surgery tomorrow. NO. I'm having blepharoplasty FIRST. And strabismus surgery one week after that. ...

I had strabismus surgery around age 5 for a slight outward eye turn. The prodedure made my eyes worse. Now my eye turns inward. It alternates between both my eyes. I can choose which eye I want to use and the opposite eye turns in. When I'm tired or stressed out, the eye turn gets worse. My question is if it's worth getting the surgery again? How will the doctor know how much muscle to cut because there is always a fluctuation in how severe my eye is turning in? I'm 23 now, has there been dramatic improvements to strabismus surgery in the last 17 years? I'm just very skeptical on getting it done because one surgery has already made it worse. Thanks for your advice. ...

I have a history of pulmonary blood clots. Now, I am experiencing Strabismus, in both of my eyes. Strabismus is a condition in which the eyes do not point in the same direction. It can also be referred to as a tropia or squint. Strabismus can be caused by a defect in muscles or the part of the brain that controls eye movement. In adults, Strabismus can be caused by head trauma. In January 07, I fell in the bathroom, hitting my head, snapping my neck as well as hitting and bruising the outside of my left arm on our porcelain bathtub. I am not sure if I lost consciousness. My doctor will not authorize an MRI for my head, temple and neck (the C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4, C-5 and C-6) area in my upper neck, until I first get a CS/LS X-ray. I have undergone three major neurosurgeries. I was born with Spinal Bifda. I have been in excruiting pain (pain level readings on a scale of 1-10) have stayed at Level 9 since this fall occurred in early January 2007. ...

I am dating a guy who has strabismus (cross-eye). If I marry him and we have children, what are the chances that our children will also have strabismus? ...
