I've been listening to Metallica since I bought the Black Album. And only recently have I heard that people have been denouncing these music geniuses as sellouts. Why? First of all, they had Bob Rock, the destroyer of bands. He came up with the idea of making the Black Album and worked with the band until after Saint Anger, and now they have the producer from Slayer and Slipknot. Are you happy now? So, now you can stop whining about the Black Album because the producer for that is gone. Second of all, Metallica did Black Album-St. Anger to show that they had the guts, no, the balls to do something as intelligent as "The Memory Remains", "I Disappear", "King Nothing", "Mama Said", "The Unforgiven I & II" and other songs. I can say this loud and clear: I LOVE THE LOAD/RELOAD ERA! You can't have hard and heavy riffs all the time or else you'll get bored with it. That's what happened with me and Green Day, even though I still love the band. If you keep playing heavy, it's gonna get borin When it comes to the Black Album, I'd guess that Metallica had built up a militia of frenzied fans who almost worshipped them as the metal gods they are. But, don't you think the band wanted even more of an audience? Sure, you may have your sister who was listening to Duran Duran wanting the Black Album, and then you wonder if your music was really good. I can agree with that for the fact that I've had my ears bleed from hearing any St. Anger song. Now, do I hate "Black Album", "S&M", "St. Anger", etc.? Kinda, but S&M was more of a branching point for the band. That's when they decided to expand the sound of Master of Puppets and other songs to make it more fancy, artsy, per sei. Black Album appealed to me, and that's what got me in. For you art freaks out there and those that read Shakespearian crud, Load got you. ReLoad didn't get anyone unless you wanted more of Load. St. Anger didn't appeal to anybody unless they wanted to see if Rob sounded worse than Newstead. More and more people pan them for the Napster thing. Why? The band had legal rights to do that. How would you like that if you just made something and now it's been stolen and heard by everyone when you wanted to keep it a small secret? You wouldn't like it. That's how the band felt, although mostly Lars. I would've hated it if my band decided to release some b-sides and now everyone knows about 'em. I've named most things, but now I'm going to get to the one that really burns me: the panning of the Load era. I can see that after you've heard Black Album, you're hoping "It was just one time, they'll get heavy again. Just wait..." and then you hear King Nothing or I Disappear and you're just like "WTF?" I can sympathize with that. But, I can honestly say that this was the most artistic and intelligent album of all of them. ReLoad may have been better in sound, but Load really hit subjects like Shakespearian plays, Jame's mother's death, drug addiction, etc. ReLoad took whatever was... left and made it an album. Cheap, but worth it. And then we have the plastic flaming worm baby that is St. Anger. No solos, bad drums and James' voice. I've heard it all. And I don't need to talk about that because my question will become a sermon. But, now I've seen live performances and have people saying how bad James' voice is. And honestly, how does that affect their music? I mean, come on, people, you can't sing like you're 20-30 when you're 40 years old and have blown your voice out from growling on your albums. I do admit that now, to me, he kinda sounds like a growling country star without a voice, which I know doesn't make since. But the voice doesn't really add anything to that at all. And finally, you've got the hair issue: it's not about the length of your hair, it's about the music you make. I can honestly say that this was the last thing I say and if I hear one word about Metallica on the answers, I will go into a homicidal fury. See ya. (P.S. Green Day is music.) ...

do u know any good metallica fan groups which i can join online and talk about metallica to? i need my metallica feelings out! ...
