The following are actual statements found on insurance forms where car drivers attempted to summarize the details of an accident in the fewest possible words....
Coming home I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don't have.
The other car collided with mine without giving warning of its intention.
I thought my window was down, but I found it was up when I put my head through it.
I collided with a stationary truck coming the other way.
A truck backed through my windshield into my wife's face.
I pulled away from the side of the road, glanced at my mother-in-law and headed over the embankment.
In an attempt to kill a fly I drove into a telephone pole.
I had been shopping for plants all day and was on my way home. As I reached an intersection a hedge sprang up, obscuring my vision and I did not see the other car.
I had been driving for forty years when I fell asleep at the wheel and had an accident.
I was on the way to the doctor with rear end trouble when my universal joint gave way causing me to have an accident.
As I approached an intersection a sign suddenly appeared in a place where no stop sign had ever appeared before. I was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident.
To avoid hitting the bumper of the car in front I struck a pedestrian.
My car was legally parked as it backed into another vehicle.
An invisible car came out of nowhere, struck my car and vanished.
I told the police that I was not injured, but on removing my hat found that I had a fractured skull.
I was sure the old fellow would never make it to the other side of the road when I struck him.
The pedestrian had no idea which way to run as I ran over him.
The indirect cause of the accident was a little guy in a small car with a big mouth.
I was thrown from my car as it left the road. I was later found in a ditch by some stray cows.
The telephone pole was approaching. I was attempting to swerve out of the way when I struck the front end.
The guy was all over the road. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.

I am about to have a deposition on a lawsuit based on a car accident 2.5 years ago and i want to know if you think i will win. I had a pre-existing psyhiatric diagnosis of depression and anxiety and right before the accident an eccentric doctor diagnosed me with epilepsy.
During accident i was hit from behind but the officer impied that i was in the process of switching lanes so he ruled it a no fault. I have evidence that i wasnt switching lanes and was in the same lane the entire time however i did stop on a highway (route 1) in order to try and get over to exit.
After accident strange side effects started to occur, mainly hallucinations and speckled vision, symptoms i had not had before accident. My memory was also effected and have had trouble getting my life together since. I dont work and have had a hard time feeling motivated to do anything.
what goes against me is my pre-existing condition and a lack of evidence of what exactly my injury is and what caused it.

My wife got into a car accident on 2/2004. The accident may have been her fault, as she did not see the speeding car when she proceeded from a stop sign. I far as I know the damage was not too bad. No injuries were reported. We exchanged information. No police report filed. We both have the same insurance company, but the ins. co. said our policy was cancelled. We were with the ins. co. for 7 years. Apparently what happened is the ins. co. did not process our check for payment. Several months later the accident occurred. A representative from the ins. co. asked me several questions which were recorded about the dispute whether or not I was insured, and about the accident. I never heard anything else from the Insurance Company other than a couple of letters stating I was not covered by the ins. co when the accident occurred. On 9/2006, over two years later, I received a call from a collection agency saying I must pay 14,000. Is this valid? Ca. has 2 year statue of limitation law.
Thanks everybody for responding. To answer the questions: we both had the same insurance co. The insurance company is trying to get money from me. Apparently the other driver sued the insurance co, the insurance paid $14,000, and now they are using a collection agency to make us pay. There has been no lawsuit against me, only threats. I don?t understand why the insurance co. waits so long, and while they are being sued by the other driver they don?t notify me.

So a while back in 2005 I got into a car accident and it wasn't my fault and the damage was over $750 dollars. And if you get into a car accident that has damages or $750 you have to report it to the DMV in the state of California. I didn't know that you had to report it even if it wasn't your fault. So I didn't report it and my license was suspended because the DMV thought I had no insurance but I did have insurance and thats how I got the insurance money, I just didn't report it. But I found out recently that the rule under my suspension was that I could drive to work and probably school because I was in high school at the time. So its been suspended for over a year and I recently got into another accident but I was picking my brother up from school where it happened. Will I get in trouble though, I did have insurance at the time of the accident in front of the school. I just want to know what will happen since it was suspended but it allowed me to go to work or school.

I was involved in a car accident over the weekend. A lady coming south made a left turn while I am driving north and I tried to save both of us from the collision, but finally I hit a traffic pole. My car was damages by the passenger side. The police was right there and saw everything. However the lady drove off from the scene. The police wrote how the accident happened on the accident report. Nothing happened to traffic pole except scratches. My insurance company is fixing my car. I have never had any accident prior to this neither speeding thicket. Do you think this will be seen as my fault? Also, I have some minor pain in my back and jaw after the accident, but I am afraid my insurance company will raise my rate if I go to the doctor. Could any one advice me what to do.
Thanks.

After searching through the web, there is no specific information on:
1. what number actually you have to dial to call the police after a car accident? You don't know local police number, do you dial 911?
2. when to call the insurance company (before or after talking to the police)? Should you answer to police based on words from insurance company that will not harm you later on in court if that happening?
3. what information from the insurance card or other that you have to exchange with the people who had an accident with you?
Is is enough just to write down license plate and name of his/her insurance company without insurance number?
Should we show each other's insurance card? Should we even show each other's driving license?
There has no specific detail on what to do during accident that led to many people don't know what to do when it happens, beside calling the police.
Please share your best efficient and specific scheme on things to do after an accident. Thanks
Is taking pictures of the person involved allowed? Will they able to claim taking picture without consent?

I was in an accident earlier this week, the passenger side of the vehicle was hit. I was the passenger. The car I was in was damaged; the accident was no fault of my friend's. It was the other car driver's fault. I didn't go the hospital because I didn't want to miss work. Now I am being told that I waited too long to seek medical attention. At the time of the accident, I was in shock.
Questions, I would like to receive medical treatment, who pays? The other car driver's insurance company or my friend's insurance company?
Should I go to the hospital at this time to seek medical attention or will it be next to impossible to get the claim paid? My neck and shoulder only started hurting a day after the accident. It is now several days later and I have not gotten any sleep since it occured.

Two weeks ago, I was in a major auto accident (not my fault, which makes it even worse). Some jerk hit me after running a light and after the initial shock and confusion, I feel almost constant rage and then sadness (and still confusion) and a feeling that I'm "coming apart"! I can't relax, can't "focus" and tho' I've been in counseling for awhile (for other stuff), my shrink doesn't have much useful info on what I can do.
My wife says I need to "let my feelings out", but I'm afraid to, and learn relaxation techniques, but to me, they're a waste of time I don't have and I'm not the "earthy-crunchy" type. I just want this to be over!
What can I do so I don't "explode"? (I don't really know what that means, but my feelings scare me)! Is this normal for people after accidents?

In an accident report can the other driver change it's story after the acc. report was filed and state no fault after he stated to the police that he in fact hit me while switching lanes?
His insurance company is claiming no-fault after the driver clearly hit me while driving his truck when he switched lanes. Nothing happened to me but now i'm stuck with paying my deductible and it wasn't even my fault. Can he do that? Can he just change a story and his insurance company go by what he says even though the accident report from the police is stating that he in fact hit me. Please answer. I'm confused is my first accident.
