I have recently got 1 yr multiple entry 'Type D' study visa of Portugal. When I applied for this I had to use the "Schengen visa application form". Through internet I got to know- perhaps,
'Type D' is a category of Schengen visa for long-stay. Now I am confused-- have I got a "Schengen visa" or a "Student visa"? (On the visa in remarks it is written 'Estudo' = student). Does the applicant need to apply for schengen visa when s/he needs a student visa, tourist visa etc of one of the Schengen country? In the visa it is not written "Portugal Visa" -- rather it is written "VISTOS (title) ... valid for:: portugal". No where the 'schengen' word is written. Can I visit to other schengen states with this? Sorry I am confusef and new in this. Your information will be highly appreciated

The school mistress of the embassy school said I would not
need a working permission to work at the embassy school
and that any visa would do for working at the embassy
school since the embassy school was not on Chinese
territory.
So , as naive as I am , I did come to China in terms of a
tourist visa since she did not offer anything that I coul d
present at the Chinese embassy in my country in order
to obtain another visa.
Arriving in China, I found out that I do need a working
visa or at least a business visa and that I can not
prolong the tourist visa, being in the country already.
So I "bought" the visa what I call the "Grey Market" since the school just refused to help me whatever. It was not cheap
but still cheaper than leaving the country to get my proper
visa and I had to work.
I am FURIOUS at the head mistress and school administaration leaving me entirely alone with the problem
I am aslo furious with myself.
I cannot get over it and feel really
ostracised ...
Yes, I had to do something and "bought"
the visa on the "Grey Market" of one
of those people who make business
out of it. I feel absolutely awful and
cannot get over it. I tried to talk
to the headmistress again
together with soemone who was
willing to support me in this issue.
The headmistress was not prepared
to talk about it .
I feel awful and ostracised and even
criminalized. Help , please.

I'm a US citizen (born in USA) living in Thailand.
I've married my wife (Thai citizen) in FEB 2007 (this month)
I'm going to graduate school in AUG 2007.
My wife is going to work in a USA research lab probably in JAN 2008.
Then she is planning to continue her study (in USA) JAN 2009.
I'm not sure if I can get her a spouse visa in time (it takes 6-12 months). So I'm looking for other options.
1) Can she apply for a work visa for now?
2) If she quits working and starts studying, does she have to come back to Thailand to request a study visa?
3) While the work visa is being processed, can I apply for a spouse visa? (I think this might get rejected)
4) During her stay in USA (starting JAN 2008), can I get her a spouse visa (k-3) or a green card?
Please help me out.
If there's no other way, I'll have to be patient and wait for the spouse visa to be processed.

can anyone tell me if the schengen visa rules also apply for all eu visa format?
Thank you for contacting MediaVisa.net!
You may NOT exceed the validity of the visa even if you have not spent the entire number of days granted by the visa. Those days are lost when the validity of the visa is reached.

I want to ask about Schengen visa please.
Can one stay in Schengen more than the validity of the visa.
For example if the visa is from 01-05-2006 till 01-06-2006 and the number of days is 20 days.
If one enter in Schengen on 25-5-06, does he have to stay only for the 6 days remaining of the visa or he can stay the 20 days till 14-6-06?
Thank you in advance

I found this on the Visa website. What does it mean " visa network"?
Visa?s Zero Liability policy took effect April 4, 2000, and is a great improvement on the previous policy. The former policy required that you report fraudulent activity within two business days of discovery. After this two-day period, you could be held responsible for up to $50 of the unauthorized charges. With the new Zero Liability policy, you?re no longer required to report fraudulent activity within two days and you?re not responsible for any fraudulent transactions made over the Visa network.
The Zero Liability policy covers all Visa credit and debit card transactions processed over the Visa network?online or off. The only transactions not covered under the Zero Liability policy are commercial card, ATM, and non-Visa-branded PIN transactions.

My wife and I are in the US (different cities) on L1 visas. I would like to change my visa status from L1 to L2, obtain an EAD, and live and work in the same city as she is in. We are both from India. I'd really appreciate if someone can clarify the following questions -
1. Can I change my visa status from L1 to L2 while I am in the US? Or do I have to go back to India, apply for an L2 visa and then come into US?
2. How long does it usually take to get an EAD if you have an L2 visa (the assumption is that I'll not find it difficult to get a job in the US)?
3. If my wife goes back to India (even for a short while), how will that impact my visa status? Will I have to leave the country too?

Hello,
Im from Greece and i have been several times in the Philippines to see my g/f. We had already applied for a tourist visa 2 years ago but she was rejected. I think 99.9% they reject the tourist visas. So we were planning this June to get married in her country so as to apply for a spouse visa and bring her in greece. We learned though that it might take 2-3 years the spouse visa and we better apply for a fiance, so as when she is in greece to get married.
Is it true? Spouse visa takes so much longer than a fiance visa? It is supposed to be a "stronger" document if im not mistaken.
1) Which visa do you suggest me to go for?
2) What papers are needed for a fiance visa?
If eventually fiance visa is the easiest solution is there any possibility that she will be rejected again? We are both 25 years old so i think we are in "major age".
Thank you idvance for your help.
Wrong approach. Lets not focus from which country i am, just give me any advice regarding the fiance or spouce visa. I have seen questions from people that are from non-English speaking countries. The question is not on the country origin but for the papers needed. Im telling all these coz i had asked the embassies that for the tourist visa if we provide the necessary papers everything will be fine. I provided everything ..same from ehr side as well and still, she was rejected. I actually want to hear opinions from people who had similar experiences on how they solved it
In general will it take longer for the spouse visa to be issued? Should we go for the fiance and get married in greece?

I'm traveling to Brazil this July and need to get a visa. My state, Connecticut, falls under the Brasilian consulate in New york which is where I need to apply for my visa. As the visa consulate doesnt accept visa applications by mail i would have to go there personally and cant so I'm told I will need to use a visa service agency. Does anyone know of a good visa service agency? Doing an online search I found travisa, but I don't know what kind of service they give. Has anyone used a visa service agency? Is it a hassle? Should I just find the time to go to NY personally?

I am an Indian citizen. I am scheduled to go to UK next month to work. I will be in the UK for the next one year on a valid work permit. I want to visit Italy as a tourist during Christmas this year. I intend to stay in Italy for 4 to 5 days. I am confused about whether I should apply for a Shengen visa from India or from the UK.
I called the Visa information centre in India and they told me that I would have to apply for the VISA when I go to the UK because I will be staying in UK. But since it will be November by the time I reach UK, I will not have salary slips, insurance and other documents for 3 months as required for the VISA process.
I've checked the websites of embassy/visa etc. but couldnt find a relevant solution to this.
Can anyone kindly guide me on this issue? I have no more than a week remaining before I fly to the UK so I would appreciate a speedy reply from any one of you so that if possible, I can apply for the VISA from India itself.

Hello. I will be very glad if you can help me with followings;
I am from one of asian countries. This year I am 28 and married, have 2 sons. Currently I live in my country with my family. I have a valid US B1/B2 visa that was issued for 10 years which I used to visit to the US twice, but I never overstayed. I wanted my family to see the US. Especially my wife, because there are lots of differences between me and my wife, because I lived in the US twice where I learned lots of things. So my wife applied for tourist visa 3 years ago but the US embassy denied her visa. The Embassy, I think, does not believe us. What is the best way to send my wife to the US. I and my family don't have any intention to live in the US forever. Do you think I have to obtain a student visa and then let my wife apply for dependent visa? Which way is the best? But remember, we'll not live in the US illegally, therefore we love our home country. Please advice me, any experiences welcome. Thanks!

Hi There,
I am currently in China on a tourist visa which runs out in 10 days. I need to obtain an F visa preferably for 6 months to study in China. I have a letter from the Institute that I will by studying at and my photo. I am having difficulty finding the nearest visa office to a place called Nanchang in Jiangxi Province (which is halfway between Shanghai and Hong Kong inland) is there anywhere that I can get an updated visa whilst here in China. I have heard I need to go to the Hong Kong border to the China Travel Service to update my visa for a further 3-6 months, If anyone has any been in this situation and has definate details ie address or phone number it would be appreciated as I don't want to get there and then produce something else that I might not have in order to get my visa. Hoping someone else has been in this situation and may be able to help. Thanks
