Obviously there's a general pronunciation, but I've noticed that across the United States, different regions pronounce it different. The far west (California, Oregon, Utah, Montana, etc.) and south (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi) almost pronounce it "AI-yan". The midwest tends to say it with the A sounding like the A in "cat", very straightforward- "an". The northeast, however, almost has a British or Dutch accent- "ahnne", almost like they're saying "on" but not quite.
First, what is your favorite pronunciation, and also, which do you say?
(In case you're curious, I'm asking this because my name is Anne- well, technically it's Diane but I hate it so I go by Anne as a nickname, and I live in the midwest but go to college in the northeast. I've always had the northeastern pronunciation of it- "ahnne")
