I am confused by the numbering of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody! A Naxos CD, 8.550327, which contains a Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in C#m, arranged for orchestra. In the program notes it's read, "Hungarian Rhapsody, No. 2 (No. 12) the most popular of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies, No. 2 in the orchestral arrangements the composer made with the aid of Franz Doppler, and No. 12 in the set of 19 for piano, ..." But when I listen to a DVD, Kissin (The Gift of Music), he plays Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12 in C#m, it is totally a different piece! So I searched for Hungarian Rhapsody in google, it is strange that many websites give a different numbering, some of them have the No. 2 in GbM, some of them C#m, some of them Dm! The most problematic is Liszt has written two Hungarian Rhapsodies in C#m, and some websites have listed both No. 2 an No. 12 in C#m. Which is correct? Or did Liszt or any publisher revised the number ? But I've checked, minor This time orchestral no. 2 = piano no. 2, not piano no. 12 !! Still it is not solved ...

Alot of people are gonna think I'm crazy, but I've been playing about 4ish years, and I don't really know how to sight read music very well at all. I had been learning various castlevania pieces and eventually got bored with them, so I decided to jump to something that looked a bit more interesting, Liszt's hungarian rhapsody no2. Naturally I started on the Friska, and I'm up to the main theme now, the part that everone recognizes. I can play it at a normal speed, and most of the parts at a faster speed as well, but I can't seem to play the C#'s with one thumb fast enough to play it like somebody like Jon Nakamatsu or Marc Andre Hamelin. I know that playing it slow at first is the way to go - and that has worked for everything I've ever played but this C# one thumb thing. Even the octives of the main theme are not a challenge for me, just these rapid C#'s.. Is there a specific way I should be going about learning the C#'s differently? or does it just take extra long? ...

I have been learning piano for 5 years. one year ago, I quitted learning piano and I havent play piano for one year. two days ago, I heard the piece Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 and dam it I LOVE it so badly. I wanted to memorize and master this piece!!! what should I do?? I didnt start with the first page of the piece. I started with "Friska" part and I found it challenging!!! because my hand is not "big"!!! The most I can go across is "Doh-reh(9-key)". and I heard a lot from ppl, saying Liszt's songs are hard to master since he has a big hand, as a result, all his songs "require " a big hand to play. so is it true that I could not master this piece?? any advice please!!!!! =( what could I do to improve my skill for mastering this piece? ...

Where can I find the sheet music for Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 Vladimir Horowitz Transcription? I can't find it any where. ...

I am 13, been playing piano since i was five, and i play in the style of beethoven and Schubert. When i was playing hungarian rhapsody no. 2, i mastered the first halve, easily, including the cadenzas, (no i am not an asian prodigy, african american) but when i got to actually rhapsody, i had troubly because of my small hand, i can't make it twinkle, i have to settle and make it thud, but i was wondering, will my hand grow? because ever since i was 5 my span was an octave now, it is 9 notes, but this still disturbes me, all of my mentors have HUGE hands, and i cannot play duets with them because they require stretches of about 1.5 OCTAVES! O.o. And now, when i layed off the piece to play Chopin Valse op. 64 no. 2 (A la Comtesse Katharina Bronicka), i got wrist pain doing a simple Oom-pa-pa, i need answers and fast, should i quit, because i don't want to ruin my wrist, but i dreamed of playing at the carneage hall since i was 5!, or should i quit my dream of playing this piece? HELP!!!! ...
