 I'm using windows xp and an onboard sis 900 ethernet card. I recently installed a new hard drive, and now the only response I get to my ethernet cable is that it is unplugged. I've done all the obvious things: reboot, unistal driver and reinstal, unplug and replug the cable, kill the power on the router etc. and I get nothing. No matter what I do, the computer insists that the cable is unplugged. Help me before I get "unplugged"! ...

 i have mac osx and i was restoring some old ipod software. it wasnt responding so i decided to unplug it. right before i unplugged it, the software started loading but i didnt react quick enough so i unplugged it. now it won't turn on. i tried holding hold and select and all that stuff. i also tried to plug it back in. it won't respond at all and i'm afraid that it's dead. should i just let the battery drain then plug it in again? ...

 I had an error message saying the USB was not recognized. I unplugged the cable modem from teh USB port but the internet and modem are still working. Would it beok to leave the usb unplugged and still have internet service? edit - i use a wireless router but my computer is the one that sends the signal to a computer downstairs.
