 im trying to decide if i should learn to drum more or learn some kind of martial arts, boxing, or kick boxing....and i don't like getting flipped...my friends are taking kickboxing with echother and i was wondering if i should do that drum or some kind of martial arts? add stick fighting onto that list...it looks really interesting ...

 That is my opinion, all these people go on about how all fights go to the ground, they only go to the ground if you let them. An average fight lasts 10 - 20 seconds and from my experience they are all fist fights, my argument is martial arts are a waste of time when they can not be used in a real fight situation, they are all well and good for sport but when it comes down to it there is only one true martial art, boxing. A trained boxer would kill any martial artist. ...

 I have a question about that whole fighting issue. I am curious as to why it is okay to see sports with men and women fighting and physically hurting eachother to the point of permanent disfigurement or paralysing but yet when it comes to animals, people through up the red flag? Sports such as mixed martial arts, boxing, american football, rugby, etc. promote hitting harder and faster. In fact, many of those trained for these sports are trained with the mentality that YOU WANT TO injure the competitor and disable them as soon and as hard as possible. However, things such as cock fighting or dog fighting or scorpion fighting or bull fighting is seen as immoral. Whats your take on it? I'm not sure where I stand on the whole animal fighting thing because I know that animals fight on a regular basis in the wild. What is done as "sport" seems the same to me as a stadium full of people cheering for a human being to be injured and disabled all for "sport" great answers from both sides so far. keep'em comming. In the past two years about 20 people have come in and wanted to "Spar" me on sparring nights. Most come in with a small crowd and a slight attitude. Only two have gotten the best of me. I really like to spar and I teach six days a week so it is hard for me to go to other schools to train. How should I handle this? Should I: Keep sparring people that come in? Charge them money and then spar them? Try to arrange another place to spar them? Make them sign up for classes and come for a month before they can spar? Only spar at other places with a different instructor over seeing it? Other ideas? Be as detailed as you would like. For the record, I like to spar full contact because I enjoy it, not for my ego. I want everyone to walk out of my school healthy and ready to train the next day ...

 I am a male 5'6/190 lbs. (very muscular) and am training to be a police officer. I am probably the shortest cadet in the academy by at least 2 inches. I was just wondering how many people feel that they don't take police officers as seriously if they are shorter. Most people would probably say height does not matter, however this is usually coming from people that are taller. I am not really talking about phsyically because I have martial arts/boxing/wrestling training and have yet to be taken down by a single cadet in our arresting exercise. Was wondering more about the mental factor....
