Well the thing is I don't know how to ask my parents if I can get saxophone lessons, I have always found the instrument very interesting and love jazz. But i've already recently started taking Tennis lessons and already asked my mom to sign me up for Japanese lessons over the summer break. I don't know if I should ask but I want to and I don't want to wait because then I heard it's harder to learn and by the way i'm 13 almost 14. What should I do?

I've always wanted to take dance lessons, but I never really got to it. I'm fourteen, is it too late? I've always had a hunch that dance was something that you had to start when you were like, three. =( Also, what are these dance styles: jazz, hip-hop, modern, lyrical, and comtemporary (sp?)? describe them for me, please. which ones are easiest for an absoloute beginner with no dance experience?
I currently do cheerleading, and I really like the dances we do for that. Which dance style is the most similiar? and should I take ballet before I try the other styles?
...
I mean, I'm only 14, and I have jazz experience, and I tap dance as well. I was considering starting ballet, just lessons, no recitals or anything yet if I can avoid it. I'd just like to learn it, because its the basic 'route' of all dance I guess you could say. So is 14 too late to start ballet lessons? Will I be laughed at if I ask? Haha, just wondering.

Well see there's this really hot girl (Childish I know) and she wants me to teach her guitar. I am very good at guitar (not bragging) and I play jazz guitar. She wants to learn alt rock.
I can play that too.
But....I'm very impatient when it comes to teaching.
I haven't started yet..but what should I do?
How should I start lessons?
What should I teach first?
How can I help her succeed?

I'm in my sophomore year of high school and I've never been asked on a date or to a dance. I don't even think I've been told any guys like me. I am really busy all the time with three AP classes this year (four next year), band (flute), jazz band (keyboard), private piano lessons (got 2nd in state last year), swim team, volunteering, and a job at my church on Sundays. My GPA is a 4.4 this year. Anyway, if your reason is because that I am too busy or whatever, what can I do to let guys know that I want to be asked on dates and to dances? Does it mean I'm just plain unattractive? I go to a small semi-private school and I am the only asian at my school :D Just thought I'd mention that. Also, I have a laid back kind of style: straight dark brown/black hair, bangs, shop at Hollister and A&F...

Hi, I've been getting lessons for classical guitar, and I want to join my school's jazz band. I've never gotten an electric before, so what are some good starter ones? I am in the 7th grade, in case you need that info. Also, is there certain things I need to know? Such as chords and stuff.
Thanks in advance!
Also, can you post a link of the guitar, and how much you think it will be?

i have been playing the piano for as long as i can remember, and i am in a choir. i have dance experience in ballet, hip hop, and jazz.
i haven't tried acting, or singing solo.
i can't afford voice lessons, but i can take an acting class in school next year.
how can i "teach" myself voice lessons? perfect my own voice?
i know it probably sounds stupid, but my parents really cannot afford to take me to a teacher...

I play the trumpet in my school's concert, jazz, brass ensemble, marchng band, and i take lessons and go to master classes for marching band as well.
i am the best trumpet player at my school (not to sound cocky or anything...) and i have a lot of stress. I am expected to rarely make mistakes and never mess up. I have so much music to learn i feel like i have anxiety now. how do i get myself to calm down? i don't want to quit anything. i love music so much i would not be able to. So, how can i basically "chill out" and get rid of my anxiety and nervousness? any good advice is appriciated. Thank you.

I want to buy a saxophone for just having fun with. I won't be taking lessons or anything and I won't be in any kind of band, i just want to play for fun. I know nothing at all about saxophones other than what I've heard on jazz albums. I play the piano so I have musical experience, but I am a novice to any other kind of instrument.
My questions could be summed up like this:
1) What kind should I get (tenor, alto, etc...) and in what key? What is the best for a beginner?
2) Is it sanitary to buy a used sax? I imagine the mouthpieces or whatever would need to be replaced. Would it just be better to buy a new one?
3) How much would a low quality sax cost?
4) Is it relatively easy to improvise on the saxophone?
5) Are there a good amount of saxophone books and sheet music for beginners?
Please keep in mind I have no experience with saxophones and if possible would like a smaller one.

In your opinion/point of view, which genre has the best drummer?
For you, who's the best drummer?
Drummer who's worth listening?
The 'best' drummer a student like me having a drums lessons should listen to?
I'm actually looking for a role model. xD My favorite drummers are Barker and Cool [don't spit on me]. But I want to listen to other genre, problem is, I don't know what genre. A little help?
My teacher said jazz drummers are the best. Is that true? Or it really depends upon the listener?

My ultimate dream is too be on broadway, I know how hard it is but I am willing to work SOOOOOOOOOOO hard. I have already been in quite a lot of productions. I have had a voice teacher since I was 8(i'm 15 now) I am on the dance team at my school and take ballet and jazz outside of school. I sing and perform every chance I get. I take piano lessons and am about to start theory lessons. I am about to try out for vocal ensemble at my school and I attend theatre. What else?
Any advice?
Was dance team a bad idea?
What about grades?
Too unrealistic?

I am wondering how much experience I need to start giving drum set lessons? I am 20 years old. I have taken private lessons(one on one with a pro) for about 13 years covering rock, pop, jazz, rudiment/snare, some brazilian and latin. I played in the high school band for four years, jazz band for a year, pep band for four years. And I know my music history. I feel like I could help people learn any song. Is this good enough? Thanks.

My mom have a lot of things in common, we love music, dancing, singing, fashion, and baking, but whenever it comes to negotiations, she never pays attention to my perspective
like in this situation for example:
I take dance lessons from 2-5:30 pm, 2-4 pm is my Jazz class, 4-5:30 pm, I take Hip-hop 2 (take note, I said hip-hop 2) and my mom wants me to take ADVANCED Hip hop (which is on 1-2pm, but I don't want to because, it would be very very hard to catch up to the steps, and since I'm already used to my current class, but my mom still insists even though I don't want to, what should I do?

Hey guys. I'm currently a sophomore in high school on long island. I have been playing piano for about 5 years but never took it seriously. I've gotten pretty good, not near the Berklee caliber but I am just starting to take lessons now. I'm also taking a music theory class next year, and plan to take music theory 2 as a senior, and maybe a jazz improv. class at my school.
My grades in school aren't great. I have about a C+ or B average because of my laziness in high school. But according to their website, academic grades are not what they pay attention to. I understand Berklee is not an easy school and i plan to turn over a new leaf if accepted.
Also, i would plan to major in music production and engineering, maybe performance as well depending on my skill at that time.
If i continue to work hard, do you think i would have a chance to be accepted?

Recently, my friend and I have been in some debate over which instrument we think is harder to play: the piano or the clarinet. I play the piano and my friend plays the clarinet. We both think that our instrument is harder to play. I am taking jazz piano lessons and I've found out that to be good, it takes alot of skill. As for classical music, I am currently working on Chopin's Grand Polonaise (and that song is crazy hard)!
well tell me what you think is harder: the piano or the clarinet.

My AP classes by the end of senior year will be :
Macroeconomics
Biology
European History
Calculas
Also I am going to take this class called Human Anatomy and Physiology which is a full weight class because it is college material.

I'm in ninth grade now and I have a real passion for percussion in general and I have been playing for 6 years. I have a great work ethic and I'm always practicing. Some of my accomplishments are: I am a level 6 NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) snare drummer. I'm in the school's Wind Ensemble (which has been named in the top 100 school districts for music in the nation). I take private lessons and I'm in the drumline, jazz ensemble, orchestra pit for my school, and I will be taking Music Theory as an elective next year.
I was just wondering what a typical Berklee College percussionist's (any type of percussion) accomplishments were before they were accepted into the school so I can see where I stand so far. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions at all that you have for me. Thank you very much.
