Hello, I recently setup my DirectTV Receiver to my LCD TV using the S-Video and Audio Cables (Red, White). Everything is working fine but I do I get true S-Video connectivity while the coaxial cable is plugged into ANT 1 In (Air) terminal on the back of the TV from the DirectTV Receiver "Out To TV"? If I am getting true S-Video connectivity while the coaxial cable is running from the back of the DriectTV Receiver (Out to TV) and into the back of the TV ANT 1 In Air please explain how? I tried
unplugging the cable from the back of the TV (ANT 1 In (AIR) but I do not receive a signal even after running through the reconfiguration on the TV. The "Satellite In" cable on the back of the DirectTV receiver is obviously plugged in. The simple chart DirectTV user guide shows that the "Antenna In" connection, on the back of the TV and the "Out to TV" coaxial connection on the back of the DirecTV Receiver is not applied when using the S-Video connection and the Red, White Audio connection. Lastly

We started out looking for a bigger TV for the bedroom. We went to a couple of places and all of a sudden my husband has it in his head that we should get a bigger TV for the living room instead and move the entire TV and stand into the bedroom. It went from spending $300-$400 to practically $2000. We already have a big TV in the living room so my feelings is we don't need one. But he's in there, watching TV and kind of sulking (not bad, he just really wants it) because I am against the new TV for the living room. Should I just give in and let him spend $2000 that we really don't have on a TV that we definitely don't need? Or should I hold my ground and push for just a less expensive, MUCH less expensive, TV for the bedroom?
I also think that his big todo about getting a new TV for the livingroom has to do with his brother in law getting 2 big HDTV's for himself, on a great deal that he couldn't refuse. But he also makes more money.
I never said absolutely no. I said lets get what we were shopping for initially and then down the road we can get a bigger TV for the livingroom. And, since we don't have a lot of cash laying around my hair gets cut at Supercuts, I dye my own hair, and rarely buy new clothes and when I do I hit up the clearance racks.

I think I may have a problem with the "Audio Out" connections on my tv. I have a coaxial going into my DVR box, then into my VCR, then into the tv. The DVR is also connected to the tv via HDMI cable. I run a/v cables from the "Audio Out" on the tv to the "TV In" on my receiver and get no sound through the receiver. I do get sound when I run the cables from the receiver (still "tv in") to the DVR box, or to the VCR. I would think that the problem is the tv, but I think I remember having the same issue with my old tv. Am I doing anything wrong? Any tests I can run to make sure the problem is the tv?
it's a sony kff-50e2000.

I have a 27 inch Norcent LDC TV. For the past couple months the TV has been turning on and off by itself! I will be watching tv then all of a sudden the TV would just turn off. When the tv is on the power light is orange and when it's off the power light is blue. Sometimes when the tv flips off the pink light will flash a few times before it finally turns blue. Usually it will just stay off until I hit the power button on my remote but there have been several occasions when it just turned back on on it's own WITHOUT me manually doing it.
There has also been a couple of times when I have woken up in the middle of the night and the tv is on! My remote is all the way across the room so no way did I turn the tv on myself. And I ALWAYS turn the tv off before I turn in for the night. I now just totally unplug the tv from the wall before I go to bed. I don't have it on sleep mode either.
I have no idea what's up. I emailed Norcent and they never replyed.

I have Direct TV and with that I have a Direct TV DVR. It sucks! Direct TV has begun to phase out there line of DirecTivo units. The DVR?s that Direct TV carries now are complete junk. I found a few Direct Tv Tivos and I have a few questions about them before I buy. The Model I?m looking at is ?HUGHES SD-DVR80?
My first question is can this model and all other Direct TV Tivos be used for Cable TV as well? For instance at the end of 2007 Direct TV plans are to no longer support DirecTivos can I dump there service and use it for Cable TV?
And can the HUGHES SD-DVR80 be modified to hold more hours?
Thanks

Hi, I recently purchased a laptop and would like to purchase a TV Tuner as well so I can watch TV on it. My laptop is Dell Inspiron E1705 which lacks integrated built-in TV Tuner hence I have to buy an external TV Tuner, preferably USB-based. I know that much about TV Tuner.
But I know there are many kinds of TV Tuner, so many to choose from. Which TV Tuner would suffice to be most efficient for my laptop at reasonable price? Thanks in advance for any insights.
P.S. Is it true that some TV Tuner are only compatible for Desktop and not laptop? Do you have to watch for that when you make purchase?

I've had my tv for years and recently it's been giving me a lot of trouble. It's a JVC 48" tv, the model is AV-48WP30. I'm watching my tv and all of a sudden it makes a buzzing noise and then it's followed by clicks and the tv screen goes black. I notice that the power light starts flashing, and I'm unable to turn off the tv or do anything using the remote. The only way to turn off the tv is to unplug it and then plug it in again. But once i tried this method the tv responded the same way - making the clicking sound and the power light flashing. So if anyone has any knowledge with tvs or has had this problem before, your help would be appreciated.

I cannot turn on my TV because the ON button on my TV is broken and usually I use the TV remote to turn it on and then the Cable remote to turn the channels. But....I have lost my TV remote. Help?? Can I use a universal remote or somehow the digital cable remote for my TV even if at the time I can't turn on the TV. Does the TV have to be on to program a different remote to work for it?

Hi everyone. I have a weird problem.
My TV (on certain channels) sometimes has a shaky vibrating image (green hue) for a split second every 20 or 30 seconds, sometimes in quicker succession and sometimes with longer intervals. Most TV channels work perfect, but the two I watch most have this problem so it becomes annoying.
The TV is hooked up to the cable TV through an RF cable (typical cable off the wall). I tried using a different TV with the same cables and outlet, yet I had no problems with that TV.
I thought it might have been "interference" from other devices, but which devices can cause this and how far away should I keep them from my TV?
Also, I have no problems whatsoever with my inputs (A/V, component, HDMI, etc).
For the record, it is a 32" LCD TV (LG Electronics).
Is this a problem with the tuner inside the TV? Is it that the TV gets too hot? Is it interference from other devices?
I am really puzzled. Please help me.
Thank you.
Best Regards.
Dear WJ,
Thank you for your answer. We are using an NTSC signal, therefore, is there anyway to make the TV just read NTSC? Or am I forced to let it choose "automatically"?
Thank you.
Regards.
Dear Reggieman,
Thank you for your response. What might have caused the problem if it is a tuner problem?
This TV is 5 months old, and I just moved. The TV worked perfectly in my last residence, but now has this problem. Do you think the TV was damaged by the movers? What can I do?
Thank you.
Regards.

Let me explain. Ok, it looks like the tv is sweating, meaning there are ripples of clear waves (looking like clear water) running up and down my tv. I CANT see these waves when a show appears In dark colors, I can only see these waves when a show/commercial appears in white or light colors. Can some one tell me if its the Tv or the cable box. I can see shows but not as the normal clear you may see on your tv.
i guess your right. Wish cars could last this long.
i am cheap

Does anybody has the list of available FREE TV Series downloads with links. You miss a show, you can jump on your computer and get it there. Experience only, please (if YOU actually downloaded a TV Series episode and watched it for FREE).
Do not answer this question just to give me useless links because you happened to search the internet (I can do that too). Answer it if you actually downloaded and watched a full episode of a TV series. I do not want any youtube answers (good videos there but no free TV Series). I do not want those tv.org or tv-all-free-com answers which are those numerous sites that get you to the exact same window which is a dead end, just collecting your personnal infos getting there. Can?t you see a scam when you see one? Also peekvid can be nice when you actually get something if the quality image is not too bad?And also, please, no tv.com answers, very nice site but for downloads, they just connect you to sites like itunes where you have to pay that $1.99.

What to do when your family members spend all their free time in front a TV and when you suggest you spend some time together often reply with invitation to watching TV with them??! I am frustrated how much time is being wasted on some impersonal TV crap, but it is too late to change two grown up adults. Is there an explanation why they need this stupid TV all the time and how not to get angry with this situation?
In my own house we sold a TV and only keep a DVD player for movies and we watch/read news online, but when I am visiting parents, and they watch their huge TV... I get very upset every time!

I've spent hours reading print & online articles & checking Websites for info. Still having trouble piecing it together. My HD TV has digital ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuners built in. I've read that a QAM tuner allows you to view unscrambled digital channels thru Comcast cable without needing a set top box (I would pay for Comcast digital cable with extended basic but no premium movie channels, no on-demand, no other add-ons). I'd like to listen to digital music channels thru my audio receiver but don't know if that would work without a set top box. I have 3 RG6 coax jacks in my house & would prefer no set top boxes (extra cost, hardware, clutter, & remotes). I was leaning toward FiOS TV until I found out that my TV's QAM tuner would do nothing when on FiOS TV--for FIOS, think I need an HD set top box for main TV & a basic set top box for music in another room (different jack). Have checked Verizon FiOS TV and Comcast FAQs & sites & talked to reps. Incomplete info. Still puzzled. Any advice?
