I'm 6.4 feet tall dancer. I can do all as good as other dancers, but when people are standing next to me they're always asking is it difficult to be a tall dancer. Is it popular to think that dancers (excl. twosome dancers) can't be tall well I'm dancing kind of urban lockin' (not breakdance) ...

To hip hop dancers, ballet dancers, any dancers, How did you become a dancer? While I am not planning to be a dancer, I am very interested to know how you become a professional. Like, what are the good dancing schools, how many years does training take, when did you start dancing, and so on. Also, what kind of career opportunities do different types of dancers have? If you are a professional dancer, or even if you are not, please post an answer. :) Not that kind of dance. Thank you for your answers. :) However, I would appreciate if more people posted their opinion on how many years of training is reasonable/typical and what kind of career opportunies are available. I did check out So You Think You Can Dance and Dancers 4 Answers. Thanks, especially for the answers website. I am more interested in hop hop than classical or swing or those kinds of dances. I know that ballet education is more structured and it's easier to give answers on it. But does anyone know about hip hop? ...

so i am a dancer, and my friend is a gymnast. we alwasy debate over which is better.. granted, gymnasts are more flexible, because flexibility is what they do, but my friend seems to think that gymnasts are actual 'dancers' because they do floor routines and have a special 'dance' coach that comes in to teach them. so therefore she thinks that gymnasts are better dancers than actual dancers. is this true?? ...

Hi, I'm a 19 year old modern dancer. I've been dancing for almost 4 years and I have enjoyed great emotional and physical rewards because of it. Recently, I've been granted a scholarship to train with a nationally recognized dance company. I've started going to the gym and already I have seen improvements in my body. I'm a bigger guy, 6'1 and 235lbs. I may not seem like the dancer type of body. I've enjoyed working out by lifting wieghts but I've already gotten negative responses from my dance teachers for doing so. They say I am bulking up rather than getting leaner. I started using the treadmill but this led to knee problems and bulkier legs muscles that prevented me from completing my lines (dancer talk...sorry). I started using the elyptical and this made it better. I eat very healthy. Granola cereal or eggs in the morning, a light lunch and low fat chicken skillet for dinner. Whats a better work out for getting leaner but at the same time getting stronger? ...

In 1992, there was a young Asian woman with long black hair and a curvacious body who was a Soul Train dancer on the U.S. music/dance show "Soul Train." I've heard there was an Asian dancer named Cheryl Song, but she is not the woman I'm asking about. The woman I'm asking about was on the show in 1992. Does anyone know who she was? Also, where can I get DVDs of the show Soul Train from the 1990s? Where can I get information about past Soul Train dancers? ...

Hello! My name is Chelse, and I'm 13 years old. Dancing is my passion! I have done jazz, hip-hop, modern, and ballet. But my main style of dance is tap. I wish that I was more flexible. Sometimes I don't feel like a true dancer because I can't do splits and all that other stuff. I know, I know. Dancers shouldn't be judged by skill, but by perseverance, but still. I would like to be able to get into full splits in all directions. I have lost so much flexiblity this year in the 7th grade. I think this is because last year in gym, we stretched everyday. This year, I don't have gym daily, and we like never stretch. So the only time I stretch is at dance class which is only once a week. These are my questions: How often should I stretch? How many times a day? And how long will it take to get into full splits and gain more over-all flexibility? If you could please post these answers here or give me a link, that would be greatly appreciated. Please add any info you would like. Thanks! ...
