Hi there
I have had a problem with my pc for months now. The entire operating system crashes crashes and restarts automatically when the modem is connected and powered on. I have tested to see whether it works when the modem is not powered on and it runs fine with no crashes but when i turn the modem on again i get issues such as OS crashes and screen freezes if it doesn't actually crash. I am connected to my PC via BT Broadband and use Ethernet to connect my PC to the modem.
When checking the error message after reboot i usually see the following message:
Error code 00000024, parameter1 001902fa, parameter2 f3c836dc, parameter3 f3c833dc, parameter4 f9da06f8.
That is baffling to me and i don't know what causes the issue.
I even sometimes try logging into Safe Mode and get the crashes but in safe mode the errors are listed as DCOM or Service Control Manager probs.
As i said before, this only happens with a powered on Modem (Net connection is fine, pc just crashes)
Any help guys?
Could the modem as hardware be the problem?

When i play halfway thru a 3d game, the computer crashes. It only happened on certain 3d games. Warcraft3 never crashes my pc, while on the other hand, Lineage2 crashes after running it for about 10mins.
I ran dxdiag, tested directdraw and direct3d and it showed no errors. I also set ingame display to the lowest possible settings and it still crashes.
I don't think it has anything to do with the ram. Might be graphics card damaged, driver error or something?
PC specs:
Intel Pentium4 2.4GHZ, 766MB RAM, Directx 9.0c, ATI Radeon 9600 Series 128MB

I installed Norton security now my computer crashes all the time when I close one window or post something on my blog.. Just crash crash crash. ?If there is any website with the pop up information once I finish reading and close it crashes and wants to send report log all the time.
It only does this with the Internet not any other program. Even if other programs are open it will shut down only all Internet windows that are open.
It is not slow at all but just shut down most of the time.
I have tried to turn of firewalls, spyware and intrusion prevention each one at a time but still it didn?t fix my problem.
i am using win Xp home edition and the IE browser prior to install this I had mcfee and I didn't have any problem
Help me please.
Wow! I didn't know Norton is that bad...I have lost my money for these stupid software. I wish I knew earlier that there is a free software. I will delete and try the free one and see. It is very annoying.

I used to play plenty of video games on my PC...it's a decent machine, 2 GB RAM, 3 GHZ processor, about 50 gigs of free space on it now, so the power is not an issue. But I started noticing a few months ago, a new game I tried to install would crash whenever I moved the mouse at the starting menu. I then tried to play an old game that I used to play a lot, and that crashed my computer too.
I just now tried installing 2 more games - one crashes at the menu like others I've had, and the other crashes as soon as I click on some help scroll during the tutorial. This happens every time - I've tried rebooting, reinstalling, nothing works. By crashing, the game basically freezes (at the menu or wherever) and I cannot do anything - no alt+tab, ctrl+alt+delete, I have to do a hard restart every time. I've left the screen on for 30 minutes once seeing if it would unfreeze
I don't understand what could have happened! Is it a program I installed, or what? Anyone have any ideas of what I can do

Hi all. Well lately some of my PC games have been crashing at the most interesting times. It only happens with two games I own and they are Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Splinter Cell Double Agent. It happens as they are loading. Oblivion can get past the title screen and just up to finishing loading then the screen goes black and it crashes. Oblivion was working fine up to about a week ago. That is when I installed SCDA. Double Agent ran fine for about 5-6 days then has started crashing too. I click the icon and it says the executable failed to start. I also noticed my display driver was flipping out when loading a level. It was listed as nvlddmkm. I've also been getting BSOD errors every once in a while as of late.Games were running fine previously.... I have Vista and have updated Direct X and ran DXDiag. My hardware is a Core 2 Duo, 1GB Ram, 7200 RPM 160 GB HDD, and a GeForce 7300LE. I appreciate any tips and sorry bout the long question...

I installed and loaded Oblivion just to test it. It worked. Then I downloaded a gazillion mods, installed them, and it crashed on loading. I disabled ALL the mods and it still crashed. I uninstalled Oblivion, uninstalled ALL mods that came with installers, deleted all the extra files I put in the data folder, deleted old directory, installed Oblivion into the new directory, and it crashes the same way still after a fresh install without mods. There is first this Bethesda intro and then it goes into the loading screen and crashes. The weird thing is, if I?m not quick enough to skip this intro, it crashes in the intro. Seems like it works for 3 or so seconds no matter what, and then crashes. How do I make it work?

No, it's not time to get a new computer, you retard. I already have a new laptop but I prefer desktop for gaming.

Whenever I access my Yahoo email using the Firefox browser it ALWAYS crashes. This is the ONLY time that Firefox crashes, and I go to a lot of different sites. I don't understand it. I uninstalled and reinstalled FFand it was fine for a while, but then it started crashing again. It seems to have started when I upgraded Firefox, but now even though I have gone back to a previous version of it, it always crashes. I do not have this problem when I use my other browser, Opera. I prefer Firefox.
Is there anything I can do? It seems like maybe Yahoo has a bug and could do something about it so this doesn't happen with a particular browser.
Any help appreciated, thanks!

I went out and bought a new webcam thinking the problem was with my old one, but when I installed the new one the same thing happened. I checked everything I know to check. According to the information on the box, this webcam is compatible with Windows XP home. I don't even have to be connected to the internet. If I click on the webcam button, the system immediately crashes and the computer shuts down and restarts. Also, very strange, ONCE in all the dozens of times I tried to use it, the webcam actually worked with no problem. It crashed every other time, both BEFORE it worked that one time and after. I have tried to use it in Yahoo messenger AND in Skype. The system crashed in both, and as I said, crashed even if I wasn't on the internet. I have an HP Pavilion a335w. I have attached my cam to my laptop and it works fine on there. Any ideas?

My new laptop crashes with windows vista! I have 2 gigs of ram. Vista came installed on my dell. It has top of the line graphics card and top of the line intel core duo. It will crash when surfing the web or just working with word perfect! One more crash and I am sending it back. I have called support and we have done a sytem restore. So far that has worked for now!
