is atl a bad place to move? ...

Me being a Metro-Atlantan I listen to our local music artists a lot. Anways, I was watching a video on youtube and a guy from Atlanta & a guy were arguing about something. The Macon guy kept saying how Atlanta wasn't an urban area, and that Atlanta was just like Macon and that Macon was possibly more Urban than Atlanta. Now, I understand Atlanta is experiencing sprawl but, Atlanta feels more like a Baltimore, NYC,Chicago,Miami, than it does a Macon, GA. Thoughts? ...

Well 2 years ago my friend and I went to Germany to meet a close friend of ours. We were only 14 at the time and we had to stop by Atlanta before going to Germany. Once we reached Atlanta we asked one of the airport workers if she could help us with something, she just looked at us and walked off. Then we tried another person and he just didn't put an effort at all of trying to help us. From my first impression Atlanta is a rude place, and everyone has a certain look there that makes it seem even more rude. Is it just me or is Atlanta like this everyone else? All the airplane workers that shrugged us off and ignored us were black, I'm not saying black people are rude, I know plenty of black people who are great. But in Atlanta it was horrible. uhh I don't know why everyone's assuming I'm white, I'm asian. Denise I even stated I know a lot of great black people, it was that JUST in Atlanta all of the black workers were rude pretty much the whole time. I am in no way stereotyping, I just got a very bad first impression of Atlanta. ...

Also why don't they like one another. I know it's a rivalry of the Empire State and Empire state of the south, but why? Anyways, I perfer Atlanta, I was born and raised in the southern city with an incredible history and amazing sights, where as New Yorkers accents are a little annoying and they can have a bit of an attitude. And they think people in Atlanta are just country slumbags, but that is not true, Atlata a city just like any other, not a town, big diffrence. Places like Savannah and Macon GA are big towns with country accents and lifestyles. The dialects are very diffrent in GA, whereas every New Yorker I hear talk has the same annoying one and they come from all diffrent parts. I do have a few friends from up New York but not many and the ones I am friends with have made Atlanta their home and don't plan on going back so. New York may get more attention, but If I had to choose between the two, Atlanta would be my first pick, no doubt. ...

Yes there is crime in Atlanta. I lived there for nearly 10 years and will be moving back within 18 months because I love the town so much. As a resident you learn that there are certain things you just don't do. Don't get out of your car after dark in south Atlanta if you're white. Don't buy the "homeless paper" from the homeless guys in Little Five Points. It's a scam to make money. Get yourself a house alarm and set it religiously. No, a dog is NOT a house alarm. get a REAL one from a reputable company. Ladies, don't carry your purse in your hand. Over the shoulder with the inside of your upper arm pressed against it firmly or cross body will keep you from losing it to a mugger if you're below I-20 after dark. ALWAYS stay with a group of other people when in Buckhead on the weekends. ALWAYS lock your car and don't leave anything of value within sight. Put it all in the trunk, including your stereo face plate. If you think someone is following you, call someone on your cell phone or duck into a shop, bar, etc. Atlanta is an amazing town full of culture, excitement (the safe kind) and wonderful people. YOU just have to use some common sense. Other tips: Don't drive IN to downtown in the morning until after 10 am. Don't drive OUT of downtown until after 7pm. Otherwise you WILL get stuck in traffic. Morning rush hours start around 7am and run til around 9:45 and evening rush hours start at 3:30 and go til 7. That's just the way life is when you have 4 million plus people in the metro area. Sorry, I know its long but you are almost done. Is it really like this? You can't get out of the car? What about for someone working a driving job Taxi, Limo, Truck? This sounds rather unsafe is it true? I have lived in Dallas my whole life and have almost never doen any of those things except get a dog as a security system and lock my care and keep valuables out of sight. Lol if you are still confused it is a review of the city.... ...

My cousin and I were recently discussing living in atlanta, and we were saying how boring it really is. Both of us are from the north DC/NYC, and while atlanta maybe less in the living cost; its just flat out boring. I've gotten used to the clubs and all, but beyond that I don't really see anything that's all that. Its hard finding a job paying anything worthwile; and the men well please! Do I need to go there. lol. After school am thinking of going back to NYC or even DC (the real black mecca) lol. Someone told me once if your young and wanna party go to atlanta, but if you wanna be a professional go to NY. Anyone feel the way I do Atl ain't all that!! ...

NYC! People say that NYC is too busy and crowded. Remember that there is Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island that has it's residentual areas. It's more exciting, the food is good, this is where all the celeberties hang out. I think New York is way better. It's a better mix of people than Atlanta. Atlanta is cool but ya'l act like it's the only city in the world. Specially these damn rappers. Always be holding up the A sign. Come on man. One day you won't even be able to close your fingas togeha. But Atlanta is kind of a slow moving, more layed back place. Where here in New York you can run up and down Manhattan, or chill out in the Bronx or outer Brooklyn. ...

We're going on Vacation the first week of June. The plan is to leave Indiana on the evening of (Thursday) May 31st. If we leave around 5:00 - we'll probably stop around Chattanooga and get a hotel room. If we leave around 7 AM - we should hit Atlanta around 9 AM - will we miss rush hour traffic? Also, if we can get by with leaving earlier - the plan is to get to Atlanta before checking in to a hotel. This will, of course, mean getting to Atlanta around 11 PM. Am I correct in assuming that the traffic won't be bad at this time? ...

I am an 18 yr old male, and i was born and raised in Queens,New York, but 3 years ago i moved To Atlanta,Ga, where I'm still residing at the moment. I miss New York alot, because, i like the entertainment, the diversity, and transportation. Everything in Atlanta is kinda spaced out to me, and kinda slower compared to NY, don't get me wrong Atlanta is a beautiful place, especially for the cost of living, and the club scene, but i am young, and love fun, and i feel somewhat trapped in Atlanta. I'm going off to college this year, and planning to move back to NY in september, some people tell me to make the move and others say don't, but i wanna move back to Atlanta when i turn around 22 or if make more money. So i need advice should i make that move back to NY? ...

Who Should The Atlanta Hawks pick in the 2007 NBA Draft? The Atlanta Hawks have landed big in the 2007 Draft lottery getting two lottery picks pick #3 and pick #11 Since Atlanta will fallout of the Gren Oden-Kevin Durant race because it will go to a #1 and #2 seed most likely Who Should They Draft for the #3 and #11 Pick Here are some potential draft picks other then Oden and Durant: Al Horford Corey Brewer Yi Jianlian Julian Wright Brandan Wright Joakim Noah Spencer Hawes Roy Hibbert Mike Conley Jr. Jeff Green Al Thornton Acie Law This is one of the strongest drafts in decades which was stated by David Stern... Atlanta Hawks could be a completely differently franchise with these two picks... I seriously think they will have the best future out of all the draft teams because not only will they have the #3 and #11 pick they already have Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Josh Childress, Shelden Williams, Salim Stodemire ...

Im originally From Nyc and my job relocated me to Atlanta and live in Buckhead. I have been in Atlanta since 2000, and the city has changed quite a bit. Some Positive, some Negative. Me being a single guy, have seen the nightlife drastically decline in Atlanta since the bars now close at 230am. I have some friends that have been pushing me to move to South Beach, and swear that its one of the best cities for nightlife and a single man's dream! I would like to know if there is anyone else that has lived in Atlanta that made a similar move?? Also, would like some feedback from the single guys in Miami and how they like it. I would probably move to a condo in south beach, and would like any advice possible. Thank you in Advance, Mike ...
