 Hi whilst driving my 2003 renault megane yesterday,a messege flashed up saying Change oil soon.I checked my oil,and its between the max and min mark.So i called Renault and they said it needs a oil and filter change.Im just wondering whether as Renault are pricey,if i would be better taking it too any garage.But i will need the messege to be reset after.What do you think?  I have a Renault Megane 1.4 petrol engine. Recently my car has developed a starting problem, when you turn the key the starter motor will either rotate normally, rotate slowly, won't turn at all and you hear the solenoid go click or rotate normally and slow down and stop. If you keep turning the key on and off you can coax the starter motor to turn. I have had a new battery, starter motor and I have cleaned all the earth connections to the chassis of the car, I have also measured the battery voltage and started the car with the headlights on to see if the battery was coping, which it was. has anyone out there had a similar experience and help shed some light on what may be the cause of the problem other than it's French or it has a Renault badge on it. the alternator also squeals for a short while after starting but the battery is charging though. I would be really greatful for any useful suggestions ...

 Does anyone else think its odd that Renault went from having the best car the last 2 seasons to having one of the worst this season? And that McLaren did the exact opposite? (bad car last season, great this season.) It makes me wonder if Alonso has been getting information about Ferrari from Nigel Stepney for a lot longer than just this season.  I have a 04 Renault Scenic Megane, only 30000 kms on clock. but out of warranty since last August. Major knocking/clicking noise on the steering. especially in reverse. Garage says steering rack needs replacing - but are vague on specifics - cost of part + labour is almost 1000 euro. Surely, it shouldn't go after so little mileage?  I test drove a Renault Megane, about 5 years old. It was fine and smooth but when I changed gear every time I let the clutch back in the gear stick jumped under my hand. When I was driving along it moved around when I accelerated or braked, not just a bit of shake but maybe a half inch or more jerk on the gearstick knob in one direction or another. Is this normal in Meganes this age or as I suspect was there something wrong? I didn't buy, went for a much smoother Fiat Brava in the end. ...
