 I need help in doing a compare and contrast essay. This is the topic we have to do : Compare and contrast the greek idea of moderation "nothing in excess" in equus and oedipus rex. I came up with this thesis so far: Aristotle was the first to come up with the Greek idea of moderation. His philosophy was that, in order to live a good life, you must live and do things in moderation. This philosophy can be seen as true, when looking at both Alan and Oedipus in the plays Equus by Peter Shaffer and Oedipus by Sophocles. When looking at influence of others, the value of excessiveness in each play and the main characters result of excessiveness, you can see how living in excess, was a significant contribution to the downfalls and tragedies that happen to both Alan and Oedipus.  OK- I'm torn between two things that I'd like to do: Should I enter a contest to get my book sign by J.k. Rowling in NYC in October (which I dont even know if I'll win) or do I wait until next summer to go see Equus (a play) in NYC. Either way, its gonna cost alot, but if I wait till next summer I'll more time to save up for plane tickets, while if I go to the signing I'll have till October... ...
