Can anyone point me in the right direction for a NYC spot with good Moroccan food (must have good b'steeya/bastilla) and good shisha thats not crazy expensive, but with wide variety of 'flavors'?
Horus (Egyptian) and Kush (Moroccan) I've already checked, and though ambience and decor are quite lovely at Kush i am not enthused by their brief menu and seeming lack of b'steeya (maybe its a special request sort of thing, just not on the menu?)
i havent found a place with both good Moroccan eats and good, well-priced shisha...some HELP PLEASE! (Thanks!!)

Can someone let me know some good names (as well as less priced) for Moroccan bath in Dubai?
Also I understand Moroccan bath is the bath using the traditional Moroccan black soap? Can I buy it in Dubai shops? If yes, where? Thanks in advance.

.. i have been married to a moroccan man for 2 years now. and i have learned so many recipes but one i have tried and failed so so so many times is msemmen. his mother came when i had my baby and taught me so many recipes but one she didnt have a chance to practice with me on is msemmen. my husband of course loves the stuff. but every single time even though i am copying what i saw my mother in law do, it stays flat and ends up almost being like a chip before it is cooked. it isnt easy pull apart layers that puff up as soon as you get it in the pan. its flat and hard. i really need help if anyone knows exactly the steps and recipe for this i would appriciate it . all online recipes say use only flour and water and i know for sure thats not right. please help!!!

I know it's a silly question, but I am friends with a couple of Moroccan men. I don't doubt that either of them are going to make great husbands for a couple of lucky ladies someday, and I've heard wonderful things about Moroccan men and the way that they love their women.
Is any female here, reading my question, married to a Moroccan? If you are, does he treat you very well?
To Sara, who just got engaged: Congratulations!!! That is the sweetest story!!! :-)

Hi everyone, I am 12 weeks pregnant with my second child and my husband and I were thinking of going to a moroccan restaurant for our anniversary. I have never had moroccan food, I love trying new foods, but has anyone ever eaten this ethnicity of food while they were expecting? The food looks delicious and I really want to try it!:)
Thanks so much for the reassurance! I guess I will be giving them a call shortly and make reservations:)

What do Moroccans have for dessert? I have gathered that they have green tea with mint, melon, and sweets made of nuts wrapped in pastry. I like to entertain. It is nice to offer guests something a little different.
Also, do they have sweet breakfast pastries?
Do they have any cool drinks which are Moroccan in origin?
If it isn't too much trouble, could you simply indicate a couple of things? Especially, the kind of things they make ... I have gathered they flavor pastries with orange flower water ... so if I made a plain butter cake for tea and flavored it with orange flower water, would it pass for Moroccan? Or would it need something else.? Say, someone's granny made it .... what might she put inot it?
p.s. this is a little off the subject, but I have noticed a distince cultural swap between Morocco and India. Have you any idea if this is so, and why so?
Thank you !

I know my question looks weird but I wanna know what you think about Moroccan girls and why ? if you met some Moroccan girls or if you know some M. girls ? Plus what do you think anout Morocco, its culture, its food, its traditions, etc. Be honest please, you can say what you want as long as you give your true opinion!!It's just by curiosity!!Thanx so much !!!
I wanna give details to some of you...
Lee, what do I thin about Egyptian boys, they are nice, I have no prejudice about an or some ethnic groups, I think that all people of all races have their bad and good sides with no difference among these groups. Sea Rose, I didn't say that Moroccan girls are aliens or another strange thing, my question was influenced by all the stereotypes and fantaisies that French have about moroccans girls(they dont mention moroccan boys at all!!) and even when I was in canada last year for my exchange year at the university, I notice that the canadians I met have false ideas about Moroccan girls, so for me it looks completly crazy. what me I think about them? that they look like all the girls, they have their bad sides and good sides. I just wanna to correct some stereotypes, I know a lot of moroccan girls in france and some are very pale and some have a light olive complexion , so that's false to say that all moroccans are black , there are black moroccans
morocco is a melting pot made of arabs, spaniards, berber, jews, blacks ...

I'm looking for Moroccan music. We went to a Moroccan restaurant a few nights ago and they had some really good music playing, but I don't know what any of it was called. The music was like a fusion of rock, techno, and middle eastern - somewhat similar to the Prince of Persia video game music.

i'm moroccan and i was wondering if anyone has every tried moroccan food and if you have, did you like it?

I'd like to learn Moroccan, but there doesn't seem to be many materials about. I speak no other form of Arabic. What is the best way to proceed with this?
Also, if you know Moroccan Arabic, can you be understood by other North Africans, and vice versa?

Amsterdam to Study Gay Bashers
The link:
The snip:
With the number of homophobic attacks rising in the Dutch metropolis, Amsterdam officials are commissioning a study to determine why Moroccan men are targeting the city's gays.

Half of the crimes were committed by men of Moroccan origin and researchers believe they felt stigmatized by society and responded by attacking people they felt were lower on the social ladder. Another working theory is that the attackers may be struggling with their own sexual identity.
The follow up question:
Are the above stated reasons viable or is there another unmentioned driving force that explains the attitudes of Moroccan men?
(scratches head)

I am horrible at multiplying recipes -- I always throw off the flavor somehow. How much green tea (Chinese gun powder) do you think I should brew to make two liters of tea so I can transform my Moroccan Mint Tea into Moroccan Mint Iced Tea?
Sarah, I am so bad. I would have to brew a couple of cups at a time. LOL --too much work.

Does anyone have a recipe I can make at home? This moroccan lady at the mosque brough them in one time and I'm craving them! You can also post any type of shabakia even if it's not moroccan, I'll try anything I have quite the sweet tooth =D I'm up for a challenge so don't worry about the easiness...
googling for this recipe wasn't fruitful at all, I've seen all of those- just post if you have your own recipe, thanks =)

Hi. My apt. is styled in a airy Mediterranean/Moroccan style and I have the couch and the loveseat like it shown on the link below with cushions in Navy Blue. (This couch is from Ikea but actually a lot better than their 'full' regular looking couches.) I was wondering if you think it would look good with cushion covers made with Moroccan styled fabric to look a little like the banquettes. What do you think? We aren't planning on getting better furniture until we get a house since we don't want to move good heavy furniture back and forth to different apartments and I was just hoping to have a way to change things up every now and then.
i, I guess you don't like my furniture! :P I cann't get a salon beldi here for that price --- it'd be thousands of dollars here!!! Plus, we are not getting new furniture now-not till we get a house.
my couch looks very good in my apt.

I keep hearing this...what is it that they don't seem to like about Moroccan girls?
I have heard practicing (Muslim) Moroccan men say this and non-practicing...so I am really interested in knowing. I never dug too much into it so I am just curious.
My husband and I discussed this last night but the one thing we didn't really get was the materialistic thing. The only thing we could come up with for THAT was that Moroccan girls want to marry men that have a job and they want a mahr (their right) but after they get married they didn't seem that materialistic. Just our observations...of course neither of us have been married to a Moroccan girl before! LOL ;)
NOLA70123, I asked a legitimate question about something that gets stated a lot in this section and elsewhere. You didn't really answer my question. As for me, I am pround to be a Muslimah.

I've been searching all over the internet for a spa that performs Moroccan Baths in the SF Bay Area. This is very big in the middle east, especially in Dubai. So I'm wondering, are Americans just not ready for this type of intense treatment? Are they too fussy? Is that why they don't have this here? Let me know what you think. Or if you know of a spa, would love to hear about it.
So what is a Moroccan bath?
It?s an intense cleansing and exfoliating, which takes one-and-a-half-hours to complete. In fact, the briefest part of this treatment is the little briefs you are given to wear ? so perhaps it?s not the most ideal treatment for the more prudish among us. The deep cleansing begins using traditional Moroccan Black cleansing soap, which quickly penetrates the skin breaking up any dead skin cells that accumulate on our bodies over time.
